Orson Scott Card has lost his mind
I knew that the noted SF writer was some species of conservative, but I had no idea that he was this batshit insane:

12. He seems to agree with Dems on a couple of issues
According to Wikipedia, he is pro-gun control and anti-racist. And (confession time here) I once linked to a column of his on smart growth/new urbanism on the Public Transportation and Smart Growth forum, because I agreed with most of what he said in it. I wasn't familiar with the totality of his views at that point, I just knew him as an SF writer who also had a newspaper column.

6. Oh he's quite the batshit.
I worked in a bookstore in Greensboro where OSC bought a lot of books. He sounds quite sane until you begin to process what he is saying. And he thinks he is "the shit."
Being such a denizen of Wingnuttia must be why he has such a vivid imagination when he applies it to the scifi realm.

13. I was a friend of a friend of his when I lived in Greensboro
He is an arrogant tool. And, quite the Winger.

7. I see what you mean--"batshit insane" indeed. It would be kinda funny, if
it wasn't so sad. Gaming the census--delusional. And I'm tired of hearing how conservative Americans are--in case he didn't notice, Obama won, and IRL, the country right now is probably about 20% conservative, and 80% leaning left.

8. What a complete and utter lunatic.
Glad I never read any of his books. Not only is he a hack writer, but a punk-ass bitch as well.

10. He has been batshit crazy for quite a while.
And many of his rather awful books reveal just how totally nuts he is.

I like the idea that the executive branch moving the census from one office to another in the executive branch is a constitutional issue.

The first nine censuses (1790-1870) were not managed by the Executive Branch, but by the Judicial Branch. The United States federal court districts assigned U.S. marshals, who hired assistant marshals to conduct the actual enumeration.
-wiki

The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.
- US Constitution

Fact checking not a big deal with Orson.

14. I stopped reading after this gem of a quote
"Remember, the Democratic Party is the one that tried to steal the 2000 presidential election by a highly selective recount in Florida; and when that didn't work, the solidly liberal Florida Supreme Court selectively nullified any election law that might prevent the theft of the election. Only the US Supreme Court put a stop to this openly partisan attempt at election theft."

I try and avoid reading people that either openly lie, or have no concept of reality.

15. I refuse even to wrap rotten fish with the Rhino Times
for fear of increasing the toxicity level beyond what a normal landfill could handle. I'm not sure a regular, non-nuclear-grade landfill could handle the toxicity of a Rhino times to start with. The level of batshittery in that rag on the best possible of days is about 8 levels below Mann Coltergeist.

Card has found his proper level of "journalism". He and that rag are made for one another; hack writer and asswipe paper for an outhouse. And that's the most charitable thing I could possibly say about either.

Any time I go into a business in GSO, if the RT is prominently displayed out front or in the lobby, I take my business elsewhere.

Romney loves him and though he says he's a Democrat, I think that's just to keep up this lame act.

18. Anyone looking for a writer to boycott, here's a place to start.
His was an inventive mind, back in the day. Success, however, seems to have bred in him the usual hypocrisy, sense of entitlement and hate.
