Why should Americans have nationalized healthcare?
Edited on Wed Mar-04-09 12:40 PM by cwcwmack
Some thoughts that have been shuffling around upstairs lately...

Why should Americans have nationalized healthcare?

Why should every American have a comfortable retirement?

Why should every American have enough food to eat and a warm safe place to sleep?

Because this IS the United States of America. This is the greatest nation in the history of the planet. This is a nation forged by the blood of patriots. This is a nation grown from ingenuity and a desire for freedom and liberty. Patriots paid their first deposit to the future of their nation during the American Revolution, giving 25,000 lives on account.

The next deposit came in the American Civil War, and it was substantial... nearly 700,000 lives.

All told... this nation has paid 1,315,000 lives to the investment to the United States against all threats, foreign and domestic. The United States is arguably the most powerful, richest, most prosperous nation in the world.

By birthright... Americans DESERVE something. They DESERVE the fruits of the trees planted by their patriots.

When a 19 year old man died in the corn field at Antietam... he hoped that the nation would take care of his neighbor's sick child.

When a 24 year old man sank beneath the waves in the South Pacific in World War II... he hoped that his mother would have someone to take care of her in her old age.

And when a 31 year old father of 5 dies in the hot dry sand of Iraq... he hoped that homeless brother would have a place to sleep.

Birthright.

A right, privilege or possession to which a person is entitled by birth.

1. I think some other nations with a longer longevity rate and universal healthcare
may be more like the greatest nations on earth. You know, those nations that also don't engage in pre-emptive war theater.

2. American's don't have a birthright
We have a bloodright.

Paid for by the blood of those that fought for and defended the contitution.

It's paid for by the blood of every person who dies because their rights under that contitution were sacrificed to hatred, bigotry and zealotry.

It's paid for by the blood of every person who dies hungry and forgotten in some corner of a city that no one cares about.

It's paid for by the blood of every person who dies because profit is more important that treatment.

It's paid for by the blood of every soldier who dies in our name. The cost doubled when it's for an unjust, immoral war.

3. Because our nation was formed on the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It is difficult to achieve either liberty or the pursuit of happiness without first having health.
Health is the foundation of the other principles imo.

Most of the other leading democracies in this world have found that they can only improve the quality of their peoples'lives by providing them with national health care. Those nations have succeeded and they have much better health outcomes for their people with almost half the mortality and morbidity rates we experience here.
