WANTED estimates decline of 868000 jobs in upcoming february report
NEW YORK, NY--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 5, 2009 -- WANTED Technologies (CDNX:WAN.V - News), the leading source of insight and analysis based on hiring demand, is forecasting that the Bureau of Labor Statistics will announce a loss of 868,000 jobs in its upcoming report on US non-farm payrolls for February 2009. WANTED's forecasting model incorporates overall hiring demand based in part on a weekly measurement of the number of job ads placed with online job boards.

If that happens look for the markets to absolutely tank tomorrow. The markets are expecting a loss of 650000 jobs to be announced tomorrow.

ADP is estimating the job loss number to be around 700000. Another firm expects it to be 770000.

In any case things are getting worse. :-(

2. In the past, the market has always rallied when a company announces a lay-off.
Why, now, is the market getting a conscious?

4. It is because, IMO, the level of unemployment has officially
crossed the threshold from "...we're going to have more profits because we are laying people off" to "oh, fuck, nobody has any money anymore to buy our shit!"

6. Won't the market be cheering? Employee cuts always means that there's
more money for their bottom line, and their investor's wallets.

:sarcasm:
