Olbermann & Wolffe getting on John King for softball Cheney interview!
Edited on Mon Mar-16-09 07:23 PM by jenmito
He said, "The interview wasn't even on Fox-it was on CNN. Where were the follow-ups? Why did all Cheney's answers go unchallenged?" Richard Wolffe replied that John King is usually a good interview but this was a pretty softball interview. They went on. I don't have the exact quotes but it was good to see. :D

16. I don't expect him to be beating O'Reily right now
But you were saying you were worried about his ratings. The question is why? His ratings are a big boost for MSNBC. Again his are UP 32% and up 15% in the key Demo. Nothing to be worried about. He's growing. Because of him and Rachel MSNBC had their best month EVER in February.

12. Why should it be a surprise? You know the RW hacks watch his show religiously
and Liberal's have more things to do than watch a show religiously every night. But the bottom line is his ratings and Rachel's are continuing to be a big boost for MSNBC. They're basically carrying the network. Keith's ratings are up 30% and I believe Rachel's are up over 100%.

15. Also, KO and Maddow Are Not On HD, Yet CNBC Is. Coincidence?
Isn't it odd that NBC puts CNBC on HD, but does not offer Maddow/Olberman on HD?

4. Well, it's a pretty sad state of affairs for broadcast journalism
When it's comedians like John Stewart and David Letterman who do the tough interviews and people like John King pitch softballs.

6. Exactly! And it's so true that those two have given tough interviews-
especially compared to John King, Wolf Blitzer, David Gregory, and everyone at Faux.

10. Both. King could've refused to do the interview if he wasn't allowed to ask what he wanted to ask.
It seemed like he was pretty comfortable letting Cheney say what he wanted.

After the sale, CNN made an idealogy shift to the right.

http://crooksandliars.com/2007/01/26/russert-played-for-a-fool/

Russert would never ask the hard follow up questions a bit like King. I like Tim Russert he came across as a great guy. But his interviews of righties left a lot to be desired. They viewed him as an soft touch and used his high ranking show to catapult their propaganda.

...Russturd was a poor imitiation of a journalist that traded access for integrity and the reverance with which he is held by KO is just about the only thing that grates me about 'Countdown'...

24. Rec'd~ This is important.,
I got this on john king from dailykos.

"Who Was The Bigger Dick?"
"cheney or john king?" Excellent question..

<snip>

"To the surprise of no one, Dick Cheney's first post-long-national-nightmare-is-over interview was a recitation of his usual crap (although he did spice things up with a warning to America, along with a declaration of love for Rush Limbaugh).

So instead rehashing what Dick had to say, let's take a look at the performance by John King ... because let's face it; when an interview with the most controversial Vice President in history begins with:

President Obama urges absolute confidence in the struggling economy, but can the country afford his ambitious plans?

... you know that you're looking at an hour chock full of fair and balanced.

And leaving out the times King would state an Obama policy, with the question being, "is that how you see it," let's take a look at a few of the feet-charring moments Cheney faced:

<snip>

"And after letting Cheney blather on about how torture works, and how it helped the Bush administration stop "a great many 9/11's" (although he couldn't tell King about them because then he'd have to kill him), King came back with this devastating follow-up:

Much more of our conversation with the former Vice President Dick Cheney ahead. What's life like after the vice presidency, and how's his health? We'll ask when our exclusive interview with Mr. Cheney continues in just a moment. Don't go anywhere."

33. John King sold out any credibility that he had. It was a deplorable exhibition.
Now he can live with it. Most people who even stuck around for the entire fiasco will have little respect for the sell-out creep. Cheney is one man that Americans should spit on.
