Robert Gibbs is a human cliche machine.
I don't think he's capable of giving an answer without using the phrase "going forward" or "moving forward." Does he think people are going to mistakenly believe that the administration is coming up with plans "moving backward"?

And now his new phrase, in place of "timeline," it "tick-tock," as in, "I don't have a tick-tock on that yet."

Just some observations of oddities. I'm interested in language and it's fascinating when people use cliches and weird terms. That's all I'm saying. I know someone will take this as "bashing" Gibbs or that I don't think there's anything more important to discuss, so I'm including this disclaimer here, and might do so going forward on the tick-tock.

1. I think you are misusing the word cliché
A cliché (from French, pronounced ), or cliché, is a saying, expression, or idea which has been overused to the point of losing its original meaning, especially when at some earlier time it was considered distinctively meaningful or novel, rendering it a stereotype. The term is likely to be used in a negative context. It is frequently used in modern culture to reference an action or idea which is expected or predictable, based on a prior event.

2. "Moving forward" is overused and has no meaning.
You can hear it in almost every political discussion/debate, and also in business meetings. Robert Gibbs really overuses it.

8. Well, he may do that, but I think he is a great spokesmodel, er...person...
He is soft-spoken, yet tougher than he appears.

10. you're starting to annoy the hell out of me
I saw your earlier defenses of the BORG establishment going after Obama so I have to truly question the motives of this post.

Let me explain something to you in case you really are a daft cow and now a disruptor. Press secretaries talk in cliches. They are like football coaches at a press conference. Their job is to get away from there with minimal damage and maximum effect.

Often that means throwing out hackneyed phrase after hackneyed phrase and clever witticisms and bromides.

11. It's Called "Staying on Message"
it's annoying, but it's not Dana Perino, Ari Fleisher the liar and for that I could care less what Gibbs says.

He's got a good sense of humor and unfortunately our brain dead press corp. asks the same dumb questions over and over.
