Today's Agenda for the "Mad as Hell" Outrage Brigade!
Edited on Thu Mar-19-09 04:47 AM by FrenchieCat
Corp Media and brand new Blogger Brigade for truth,
and a few Twitters are going to focus on Sen. Dodd.....
not to bring Sen. Dodd down,
but to highlight that a bill was allowed to pass through congress,
with Bonus Shenadigans attached to it, when it didn't have to.

Why is that important to the media, and who does it harm?

If you guessed that it harms the American people, then you are correct.
If you didn't, they I can explain what I see coming....
(and sorry, but I'm oftentimes right in my predictions)

Who voted for this latest Bill?

Democrats in the House.
Mostly Democrats in the Senate.

So in order of importance, the Media and their GOP Friends are going after.....
Democrats in Congress (for 2010 Election purposes)
and by extension Obama's mandate and agenda,
which turns out to be our agenda....what we, the majority of the American people voted for.

That is why you can press this Bonus business for the fun of it,
or just because you are upset about billions going to banks,
or because the bonus story just "bugs" you,
or because you want to see this administration fail....

But in the end, you will, like all Americans suffer the consequences,
cause that is what always happens.

As for what this Bonus Story means to me.....

AIG Bonuses---> trees
2010 Budget ----> Forest
EFCA---> Forest
Health Care reform ---> Forest
Defense Dept. Cuts ----> Forest
Education Reform ----> Forest

Meanwhile, what this story means to Republicans....
2010 Election----> Forest

1. I give dems a pass on message control on this one, it was kinda hard to tell the GOP was going to...
...say the sky is purple on this one.

I'm not going to give them a pass on not telling Obama though, it doesn't look like he knew that the bonuses were there otherwise they would've got out in front of this story.

We'll see in a couple of weeks if the blame for this has been put back onto conservative ideals implemented by the Bush admin

5. But HE is.
He made a HUGE show of supporting Geithner yesterday and a HUGE show of saying, "the buck stops here."

So either 1. Obama was in on it 2. He's a fool being duped by his staff or 3. we dont know enough about the situation to really be able to make a fair judgement.

You'll forgive me if my faith in a man whom I believe to be more able to handle our problems than any other forces me to go with the third option. ;)

2. Yeah, but the really prominent repukes are in favor of the bonuses.
Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck made tearful pleas on behalf of the AIG exec bonuses. Obama made a speech today in CA condemning them. I bet if Gallup did a poll right now it would show that Democrats were against the bonuses and Republicans were for them.

I'm not worried about it, honestly. President Obama will figure it out. :hug:

3. Obama is outraged at these bonuses, and has made a point of specifically
focusing his anger on them. I trust his instincts on this.

4. You are focusing on the trees by thinking in terms of the 2010 midterms
while I would bet the majority of American people are looking at the forest - the economy.

The only way that AIG bonuses help Republicans in 2010 is if the economy as a whole has not substantially improved. And if it hasn't improved - that is a real problem for Obama and Democrats.

6. If our President's mandate is damaged, the economy as a whole
will not improve!
