Rage at Bonuses While Blowing Ass Off
Obama has a problem (and he's well aware of it). As usual, this country, which is lucky if it can even see a tree, is always lost in a forest. The IN thing right now is to rage against the evil BONUSES!! Problem---there is going to be a need for more bailout money or all we have put in will be down the sewer and nothing resolved. In fact, we knew it when the first stimulus package and first bailout were passed. The Congress is doing their usual "ride the hysteria" bull and, thus, ensuring that it will be next to impossible to ever get any more money allocated. Obama shared our rage and now he has to lead the bull back to the watering hole, shove it's head under water and make it drink again. I'm afraid this time he is going to have royal opposition from fellow Dems (like Byah's "just say no coalition"). Truly, this is going to be one difficult job for him..a real make or break situation. Point blank, he has to deliver more money from screaming nuts taxpayers to these very same institutions again. If he can do it, he will have no trouble selling the rest of his agenda to the country. Good luck, Mr. President!

1. We've already past that point of no return.
Folks right here pitched in.

We'll be lucky if we get the budget through at this rate.

Folks will be bitching when things don't work out though,
and pointing fingers Obama's way again.
They will have conveniently forgotten that they helped tie the President's hands.

All I know is that job, when done right, is the most difficult job in the world,
especially now!

Oh well, he wanted it. Hopefully, he didn't overestimate the American people.

2. If our Dems help to stand in the way....
...then about 46 of them in the House will be "gone with the wind" next time because they are in very marginal districts. And, a few senators will hit the skids, too. It's possible if they don't get 100% behind Obama and go out and out talk Repukes on these tv shows, that Obama has 2 years and then stagnation until the well-funded (and they will, again, be well funded) Repukes take his job away, too. Our own party is disgusting. They just don't learn...or else care not to learn.

3. French Revolution
Edited on Sat Mar-21-09 12:53 PM by AllentownJake
Started with a financial crisis caused by a costly war France didn't need to fight. The elites never saw how mad the regular people were getting and continued to behave like they always did...bad things happened as a result.

4. I don't know. Obama has a grand opportunity here...
to raise taxes on the rich and generate a larger revenue flow. How can the Republicans possibly argue that raising taxes on the rich will hurt the economy after all of this brouhaha? People are not only going to want to see them raised to pre-Bush levels, they're out for blood. They're going to be cheering for pre-Reagan levels along with heads on pikes.

Even the Republican's most gullible doe-eyed supporters will laugh at any argument claiming that raising taxes on the rich will weaken the economy. The cat's out of the bag and Obama would be very well serve to go for it.

In addition, the taxpayers want something back now after what they've just witness. Obama should hold universal health insurance and other goodies in the budget up as that something. He can turn all of the populist anger into constructive energy to get his budget passed. That's what he's working on now with his tour.

Having been one to argue against Congress grabbing the pitchforks regarding the bonuses, if I didn't know better I would think that the Democrats went ahead and presented the "bonus grab-back" law to rally the troops and put the Republicans right where they want them. In a position where they are forced to vote for tax increases and populist legislation or face the ire of a piss-off nation. Also, I think you're going to start seeing many of the banks that got TARP money really pushing to pay it back.

So there's a silver lining.
