Ed Henry Tries to Defend Self Image: Pens Exclusive Article on CNN.com
Apparently, he got the notion from Wolf Blitzer at the Gridiron dinner. See? That's what you get for skipping it, Obama!

*snip*

"But on Tuesday night, as I sat in the front row nervously reviewing my hypothetical questions written out in longhand (decidedly old school), I kept thinking back to a conversation I had with Wolf Blitzer Saturday night at the Gridiron dinner. He said that when he was CNN's Senior White House correspondent, he liked following up on a question the president had ducked earlier in the newser."

*snip*

" The pressure was on now because the president had called on me. Someone handed me a microphone, millions were watching, and it's scary to think about changing topic in a split second because you might get flustered and screw up.But it's fun to gamble and like any good quarterback (though I was never athletic enough to actually play the position), I decided to call an audible. "

"But it's in moments like that we sometimes find out what's really on a president's mind. In this case, he's not happy about the scrutiny on AIG. So he did slap me down a bit.Anderson Cooper said later half-jokingly that yours truly was "nursing his wounds." Even more comical to me was the flood of e-mail I got from Democratic and Republican sources.Invariably, my Democratic friends tweaked along the lines of "how'd you like the smackdown" because they were pleased the president pushed back.
But my Republican friends hailed me by saying essentially, "Thanks for doing your job -- he never answered the question."So the exchange was a great political Rorschach: Each party saw their own talking points in the reflection of the back-and-forth."

"What do I think? I've got no hard feelings toward the president and I assume he feels the same, but I can't worry about that. I was doing my job -- and he was doing his."

From Wonkette's..

Every one that I have read, save one promoting Ross Perot, are smacking Ed Henry around further.

8. I sense an inflated ego for sure!
Arrogance and a very poor listener....one who prefers to hear themselves talk all the time..............Such characteristics can turn into domestic violence if things in life go unpredictable.

21. HE also revealed he's NOT a journalist. Spells it out blatantly, in fact.
I was heading into this event with the same strategy: make news on something unexpected (I won't tell you which topics I was working on cause it would ruin the surprise for a future presser or interview with the president).

Journalists report news. They NEVER NEVER EVER want to MAKE news.

11. CNN comments aren't going to make the boo boo on his ego feel better:
"Nat: Ed, I think you're an idiot. Where were you when Bush was taking us into war? Where were the hard questions? Thousands of lives lost and billions spent, and no one asked the tough questions. I'd have more trust in you .."

"Jon: You news guys can be so sad and whiney. It's all about you in the end. Mr. Henry got caugh asking a question that had "I got ya" in the tone of his query. Now he wants to blame the President for being a big meany to"

"Janice meter: Puuleeeze, Ed Henry--take your 15 minutes and get out of the way. I think Obama was taken aback by the stupidity and tone of your question. You asked a dumb question belligerently. So President Obama let it g .."

"Megan: C'mon Ed...you weren't 'doing your job'...you were trying to embarrass the President. And thanx from the GOP? Please...You guys whine and snivel about the President and his cabinet working harder and then whine and snivel about you guys not 'seeing' them. Grow up."

23. I wish President Obama had done the same with Steve Kroft.
Seems like the media as a whole want to denigrade the office in general and President Obama in particular. He's not getting the respect that he deserves and this after 8 years of the media falling all over themselves in the failed attempt to make idiot Bush look better than he had any right to look. President Obama should have said to Kroft when asked if he was punch-drunk, "Excuse me?"

To me it looks like President Obama hasn't gotten even a day's worth of a honeymoon from the press OR his Democratic congress. I'm so disappointed, but have faith that he will ignore these idiots and continue on the course for which we sent him to the Oval Office. Obama rocks!

...and/or anti-CNN.

People are simply not buying into CNN's attempts to steer the conversation.

What a total, utter embarrassment to his profession. Jennings, even Russert, would be rolling in their graves to read this self-important POS sissy fit. How lame.
