Mark Halperin and Mike Barnicle gushing over Obama right now on MSNBC!
Edited on Fri Apr-03-09 05:35 PM by jenmito
Halperin said Obama has been masterful this whole trip and Barnicle said Obama has the "it" factor like Kennedy and Reagan. They went on to say how he is making it all look EASY and he's not even breaking a sweat throughout all the things he's done so far., that they LOVE him in Europe and the town hall would've been "unthinkable" a year ago (with Bush).

3. Get ready for your enjoyment to take a turn for the worse. Brad Blakeman is on
with his regular negative BS talk. He just said "the optics were great but the 'deliverables' were not."

2. Barnacle wishes; the Reagans were despised in Europe and at home by a significant # of people..
The comparison between Kennedy/Jackie and Obama/Michelle is more apt, as both were adored on both sides of the Atlantic.

4. I agree with you...
but I guess in Barnicle's eyes it's the highest of compliments.

5. Guess he has to suck up to Reagan lovers or else he'll never get invited back to Morning Joe

Did you know he was fired from the Boston paper he used to work for because of plagiarism? Small trivia question but
it tells you about the man's character or lack thereof.

8. And did you notice he asked Goolsby if he'd come back on Morning Joe again?
No, I did NOT know he was fired for plagiarism! Interesting! :hi:

Heh. :hi:

6. Reagan was not loved in Europe.
He rated about equal with Maggie Thatcher.

7. Maybe he was talking about Obama's "style" in general? Reagan WAS
an actor who SEEMED comfortable in his surroundings, I guess.

16. I know. I don't know if Barnicle knows or cares. Maybe he's just comparing what he SEEMED to be
with what Obama IS.

thought of his masterful performance, and he said, "Some of this is the 'new guy treatment' and who knows if he'd get a similar reception the next time he comes here-a lot of people get the huge crowds the first time" and THEN he went on to tell Matthews what the "RWers" are getting fired up about-maybe criticizing America TOO much. :eyes: (paraphrased) He DID say Obama did a good job and was well received, though.

claims he either talked to some unnamed person in Congress or the Right Wingers are saying?

14. Yes. And he repeated the same thing, nearly word for word, about it seeming like
Iowa in Obama's campaign days (along with the "popularity because he's new" stuff). :eyes:

17. It's true that in many ways our leaders represent ourselves.
If there's a 'Most Respected International Leader Poll' conducted somewhere, the U.S.A. just went from #138 to #1 this week. ;)

18. That's true...
which is why after Bush "won again" in '04 I hated that the paper in England read, "How could 46 million people be so dumb?" (I don't remember the number, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.) Even though I didn't vote for him, the world looked at US as a dumb country. NOW I feel just the opposite!
