The left is good at protesting, but they're terrible at rallying support.
I'm watching these assholes at Notre Dame protest Obama's speech there later this spring and I'm wondering where the rallies are in support of Obama? Why is it that we can put thousands together to protest Bush, but can't put thousands together to help support our President, who's being railroaded for his support of liberal values?

I'm not trying to call anyone out, but it really is frustrating watching Obama get sideswiped and no one is there to help him out, or show that there are a number of other people who support Obama's speaking at Notre Dame.

Unless I'm wrong and something is planned, then I'll concede so, or maybe zero people at Notre Dame support the school's decision to invite him?

But that can't be, because they protested Bush when he spoke there in May of 2001:

http://www.mindfully.org/Reform/Bush-Notre-Dame-Values.htm

C'mon, for those who live in Indiana or know people in Indiana, or know anyone who knows someone who knows someone that attends Notre Dame, let's show the school we support their decision and of course, support our president speaking there.

I have little doubt your own, precious generation will make life a paradise in earth... as that seems to be what every up and coming generation tends to think of themselves-- previous generation messed up the world, next generation will save it. Fast forward thirty years, later, rinse, repeat...

I ask because that's sort of a right wing trick. Maybe there are none but I'd be surprised if that were true.

6. It's possible, but you'd think someone would leak out on the liberal boards.
But nothing. I know there is a website where you can sign your name showing your support, but that never does anything.

mess and why are they not speaking out in support of Al. Was anyone on the TV to counter Pawlenty? I hope our big guys in the senate come out and raise hell if Franken is not seated after this final counting of ballots. If he were a repub he would be seated already.

17. That's just what I meant.
Electing Obama was a splendid success at "rallying support" and I don't at all feel deflated by some political Christians bitching about a commencement speech at Notre Dame.

12. Maybe the DLC can rally a few supporters, seeing as how Obama is only catering to them.

I certainly wouldn't expect the Left (the folks who actually hit the
streets in our party) to do ANYTHING further for Obama seeing as
how all he's done is shit on us since his election.

I don't know of anyone who worked at the Democratic Headquarters or for the Obama Campaign that feels that way. We're having another party coming up pretty soon. I'll be sure to ask if you are speaking for them.

25. No problem. If you think I'm "spewing shit", all you have to do is...
...get up from your keyboard and you yourself
go protest in support of Obama. Just don't look
to me to do it because, frankly, he's deliberately
avoided supporting most of the causes *I* care
about in favor of supporting the causes the DLC
and the corporations care about.

the Democratic Party will wind up in the same position in which the GOP currently finds itself...being run by the fringe, with absolutely no direction at all. You guys think you elected the president all by yourselves. I beg you to go back and look at the stats, Pres. Obama was elected by a sweeping cross section of Americans, and not all of us are "fringy".

Here's a thought, why don't you start now by getting 3rd party candidates elected to lower office, and not just drag Ralph's fetid carcas out of whatever hole you find him in, every four years?

18. This is religious crap,
Let the religious people deal with it. What the hell do I care that religionists protest Obama? He uses his religionists against my house, so turn about it fair in my book. When it was his religionists bashing my family, Obama said they deserve to be heard, and that they are good, decent and moral people. So, whatev.

32. Well, it is possible that at least some of those who attend Notre Dame
and support Obama are afraid of being excommunicated if word gets back that they took a stand.

Remember, this is the church that excommunicated Roy Bourgeois just because he supported the ordination of women.

35. There is a big difference between what happened to Bourgeois and this.
You're not going to get excommunicated for supporting Obama. It won't happen. The Catholic Church hasn't excommunicated Kerry or Biden or any other Catholic Democrat who backed Obama, so they're not going to do that.

They might make an issue of it, some might try and deny you communion (which hasn't happened), but they're not going to do that.
