Those accusing Obama of "group hug diplomacy" and saying it's a sign of weakness don't get it!
Edited on Wed Apr-08-09 03:22 PM by jenmito
He's not reaching out to TERRORISTS-he's reaching out to the VAST majority of Muslims who are NOT terrorists and getting them to LIKE America again. Some people, like Kathleen Parker, who said Obama may be seen as weak for trying to reach out to the rest of the world, don't understand that HE'S putting fear into those who hate us much more than BUSH did. And he's doing it by taking away the biggest recruiting tool they had-American arrogance and "cowboy diplomacy."

1. One of the reasons republicans are so wrong and so dangerous
Is their primitive view of force and "weakness."

5. Exactly. And when dumb Joe Scarborough said this morning that Obama's doing
a good thing by reaching out to people but he also needs the enemy to FEAR him, that just shows he (and others like him) think all Muslims are "the enemy." Because Obama didn't reach out to "the enemy" at ALL. Scarborough and Parker claimed terrorisits won't fear Obama like they feared Bush and Cheney when the truth is they were VERY happy with Bush and Cheney because they were great recruiting tools.

11. I agree.
It wasn't "fear" of Bush and Cheney, they knew these guys were idiots, and as you said the best recruiting tool they had. Bush was the terrorists best friend, he did more to help them around the world, and more to destroy the economy around the world, than any terrorist could have come close to doing. The world hated the U.S. because of those two, and now the world is in shambles because of their policies to allow the rich to get richer no matter what the end results were, like economic melt down!

Right wing wackos like Joe don't have a clue as to what is going on, they simply spew the right wing talking points, which make no sense, and do the bidding of their corporate masters! Big corporations like the "war" on anything, it makes them a lot of money, and after all that's what it's all about in their world! If Obama can get the rest of the world, including Muslims, to work with him, the problems can be solved and I think he can do it.

15. Exactly. And they base it all on the line that "Bush kept us safe for 7 years."
Yeah-like we would've gotten attacked again if Bush DID reach out to the Muslim world and speak to Iran and others. The only reason we weren't attacked again on our soil (besides the anthrax attacks) was al Qaeda takes years to plan and they wanted to do something bigger than 9/11.

17. "fear" doesn't always have to mean saber rattling either
Even hostile Muslims probably didn't fear * and Cheney - they knew what the Chimpadministration did would make things easier for them in the long run, if they were smart. They have a lot more to "fear" from Obama, whose common sense and popularity will mean less support from other Muslims for them.

2. Putting people in the axis of evil and cutting off all communication
doesn't show power or toughness. It makes us a hated country.

7. Yup. They thought cutting off communication with others and invading countries for no reason
means "strength" and safety for our country. :eyes:

16. Bush and Cheney were neither respected nor feared. And when Obama gets people
to not only respect us but LIKE us and not want to turn against us, that's the worst thing for al Qaeda.
