Thumbs up to Chuck Todd!
Yes, that's right-to Chuck Todd. He shot down the claim that Obama is the most polarizing president AND Karl Rove's article saying just that. Todd explained that many Repubs. have LEFT the Repub. party and have become Independents, and that Obama's approval among Independents is very strong. He also pointed out that even so, 1 in 4 Repubs. support Obama while only 1 in 10 Dems. supported Bush later on, and Rove undermines his credibility by writing such articles/making such claims.

4. Andrea Mitchell shocked me this morning too - she and Pat
Buchanan were talking about immigration. Pat kept referring to 'illegal aliens' and she corrected him by saying something like "they're called illegal immigrants, not aliens. Aliens are from outer space." :wow:

Of course, Pat ignored her and kept talking about aliens.

In his response to my complaint letter I could tell he was pissed. But I must say he is the only on who has ever responded to one of my complaints.

5. Did he say this on Morning Joe?
Frankly, I'd be surprised if he did on that show. But I have heard him on other shows take a sympathetic view of the Dems. I think he, like others on MJ, feel they have to tone down their real thoughts because Joe will go ballistic and not invite them back...

He's liked and the press is warm to him. Joe won't take that on cuz he would just look foolish...

Maybe he just wants to go at Obama, which he's been doing almost daily lately withhis little rants. Or maybe he's a little afraid of Gibbs...

33. Joe is sneaky...
he always prefaces attacks by saying, "You know this is a no-bash Joe Biden zone but..." or insert different name. I'm just glad Todd defended Obama and shot down the new "he's the most polarizing President" today.

35. I think Todd has a safer perch where he is at MSNBC than some others.
I also think he doesn't want his buddies inthe press corps to laugh at him. My guess is that they consider Joe to be a loose cannon, unable to control his temper and just off the wall lots of times. Todd has his reputation to protect...

13. Indeed, it was a wipeout of that particular talking point, to any fair listener.
This is Todd's forte: nitty gritty political nuts and bolts, at which imo he is very good. And delivered with a tone of professional, final word, so that anyone who knew how to read crosstabs would be forced to agree with him.

More like that, and Rove's current thrust will be parried.

20. I just don't get it when people say or imply that Todd is "on the right".
I've paid close attention for years, and I don't know of a single fact I could point to as evidence that Todd is on the right or conservative or Repuke, despite the tonnage of vitriol people direct his way.

Can you? And I don't mean where he said something about Obama of which you might be critical. Let's say on any other topic, can you link to a transcript or video that you think shows that Todd is "on the right", please?

I'm not that familiar with him as he's just come on my radar recently. I was speaking in general. There are a lot of people who ARE on the right and who are not generally popular here at DU who will on some rare occasion say something which DUers find uncharacteristically "sane" and nonpartisan. People here seem to be quite impressed when it happens. I'm usually a bit skeptical and suspicious.

On edit: It's simply always been my impression of him that he was on the right. I honestly can't tell you what it was that he said during the presidential campaign that made me feel that way. I just remember him rubbing me the wrong way.

I hope he continues to speak the truth. I don't watch MJ at all unless I am clicking by and someone is a guest on it that I want to hear. Joe makes me ill - really makes me ill. I heard he has a very bad back and that is why he is gone so much from Pat Buchcanan on another show. You would think he would become more understanding of others because of his pain but he is such a Repub lacky it is unbelievable that MSNBC keeps him on the air!
