Emanuel donated tens of thousands of dollars to Democratic lawmakers
In another perfectly legal and quite frankly brilliant move, Rahm Emanuel donated $85,000 from his own campaign war chest in January - right before he joined the Obama administration.

Politico reports:

It is unprecedented for a top administration official to have access to campaign funds as Emanuel does, but his donations were all easily within FEC limits. Former members from both parties often control large campaign accounts once they leave office, and they can legally use those funds to spread money around to their ex-colleagues.

So when he's arm twisting to get Obama's agenda passed, he can say "hey... I gave you $2000. The president needs your support now!"

Looking forward to Joe Scarborough and other anti-Rahmers whine about this.

1. That's how it's done. In the old days, before any regulation at all,
some sumbitch from "The Office of The President" would come to visit with a satchel, and take a brown lunch bag out of the satchel, and hand it over to the politician. "Don't forget who your friends are...!"

The big difference between Then and Now? Back then, no one knew. It was easier to play Paulie Pureboy, but there's really nothing new under the sun.
