Obama Chief of Staff to GOP: Put Up or Shut Up

Rahm Emanuel says Republicans need to offer energy and health care reforms and not just criticize Democratic plans.

Sunday, April 19, 2009

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's chief of staff is urging Republicans to step up and offer their own on ideas on how to overhaul health care and energy policy.

Rahm Emanuel said he's hopeful that Congress this year will pass major legislation on those big issues. But he says Republicans in the Democratic-controlled Congress have to stop being what he calls "the party of no," "the party of never" and "the party of no new ideas."

Emanuel said that's not constructive and the GOP needs to offer its own ideas on how to overhaul health care and chart a new course on energy policy.

He said the challenge will come when Republicans come to the table with what he calls constructive ideas.

Emanuel spoke on ABC's "This Week."

1. I agree with Rahm, as do most Americans. The GOP's numbers are...
in the toilet, and for good reason.

3. He also should tell them the if they are so deadset against "earmarks" and
spending, they need to put earmarks for their own districts on the table when cutting waste from the budget is discussed.

6. I saw that
and of course when George asked Boehner WHAT his plan was for greenhouse gases, Boehner pulled a "Oh, we'll...show our alternative shortly, like we did with the stimulus" on him.

7. He was excellent with George this morning.....
... if you missed it, go back and watch it. Would NOT let George interrupt him and called him out on questions he felt were hypocritcal. Loved it!

14. I love my Rahm....I did notice something that distracted me...not in a bad way
just interesting. He's missing half of his middle finger on his right hand. I wonder if he became left handed because of it...maybe he was always left handed.
