Cheney and blowing smoke. My letter to the Editor today

There is no more doubt illegal acts were ordered in our name by the highest officials in our previous government. We systematically tortured detainees in many prisons around the world.

Our previously good and respected image is disgraced, we are no longer the good guys.

The former Vice President, now retired, has come out of the undisclosed location and is on the Fox network attempting to justify the breaking of the Geneva Conventions we signed. He thinks his publicly admitted illegalities are excusable because supposedly they worked. If one feels water boarding a person 6 times a day for a month is necessary, then obviously it is neither working nor producing useful information.

Even though his actually did not, does Mr. Cheney realize that other illegal acts also work just fine, yet they remain crimes?

Arson: it works by burning down a house. Murder: it works by killing a person. Robbery: it works because it gets you stuff. Even though is works, if you are caught and convicted, jail awaits.

Suddenly he is out in public trying to blow smoke in our eyes and ears for the selfish reason that he wants to shore up his support in the likely case that he gets arrested.

He acts like he does not know he sports an approval rating of 13 %.

I do not think he will get forever get away with having others create special “laws”. Our Constitution is damaged but not broken and the wheels of justice have slowly begun to turn.

clearly he looks down at most everyone. people are disposable to him, those cold dead eyes give him away. I doubt he will live through this.

I thought that's an analogy that takes wind out of the sail Cheney wants to fly, and explains it to them in a way that's very down to earth.

Robbery: it works because it gets you stuff. Great line. Of course what it gets you is stuff you have to hock and may not be worth all that much anyway.

There is a point of diminishing returns on crimes.
