Do you think the contestant did a good job? Or a bad job? answering that question?



Total: 73% good 20% bad
Democrats: 59% good, 31% bad
Republicans: 87% good, 11% bad
Independents: 76% good, 11% bad

that babbling about "opposite marriage" and the "right to choose" was the best defense she could come up with. Then again, half the country thought that Sarah Palin could speak English too. Am I supposed to feel sorry for her that she couldn't give her opinion and sound half-way coherent at the same time?

11. I thought she was incoherent too.
The first time I listened to it, I couldn't tell what she said. Toward the end, it finally started to become a little bit clearer. I think she started out trying to say all things to all people but it didn't make any sense. "In my country anyone can marry" or something like that, and I was thinking, what in the world country are you from and why are you in the Miss USA contest?

7. The Question "How Did She Handle It" Is Not "Do You Agree With Her"

I'm not sure what the survey is testing here.

I don't expect pageant contestants to be able to give brilliant dissertations at the drop of a hat, and she certainly could have "handled to the question" better and still had the wrong answer, but compared to, say, the famous YouTube video of a pageant contestant answer a question about geography education, her answer was at least intelligible.

Hilton saying nasty things about her is uncalled for. He asked her opinion and she gave it. Like the first reply in this thread, I'm scratching my head as to whether she should have done a quick political calculation and lied about her opinion.

She says something he doesn't agree with, and her opinion is in line with both Pres Obama' and VP Biden's, yet she's a bitch and it's okay for PErez Hilton to be, dare I say...intolerant of her opinion?

Even if you accept that she was trying to make a statement in favor of proposition 8 her answer was incoherent and not responsive to the actual question.

And in fact we don't live in a Democracy but a Democratic elected Republic where civil rights are not determined by ballots or pie charts.

She was a poor spokesman for a position that is weak on logic and flawed on civil liberties, but as my father used to say when watching the bathing suit competition, "She has good teeth" (he was a dentist with a sense of humor).

She did a lousy job. What was that "in my country" bit? She wasn't making any sense. She sounded just a wee bit like the really dumb contestant from a couple of years ago, but at least tthat one sounded like an innocent dolt.

Had he kept his cool immediately afterword and not posted a nasty blog, there might not be as much sympathy for her.

She really fucked up that answer, but the media is questioning Perez's post show behavior.
