So Republicans think America is becoming a one-party state and they blame the Democrats?
Why? Isn't it basically the will of the people?

Unless I slipped into some wormhole and I'm now in a parallel universe, the voters voted Democrats in, so it's not like they had this huge revolution and took the country's government by force.

Maybe the Republicans should find out why the Americans hate them as opposed to bitching about being out of power.

1. And for
six years while they had control of Congress and the White House they didn't give a damn about it being a one party country.

They're a bunch of fucking hypocrites and cry babies. If, and thats a big if right now, they do ever gain control of Congress and the White House again, someone will ask about what they said in 2009 about a one party country and they'll reply "ah, we were just playin". Bunch of twits.

2. Young people see republicans as xenophobic and homophobic.
MTV, YouTube, MySpace, Current TV, and plain common sense have "educated" them in a way most folks over 40 cannot comprehend. All of my young relatives see nothing wrong with gay marriage or immigration. And we are basically a conservative religious family (mostly republican). Times have changed.

3. DI, no arguement there. I totally agree with you
Anyway, I wouldn't argue with a drunken Irishman. It would likely lead to a barfight in which I'd lose and end up with a blackeye.

4. The Republican Party is dieing
The defection of Arlen Spector marks the point where the Republicans have logged off the air and will cease to exist after the 2012 election.

The right-of-center voters will soon form a new centrist party. The new party will be a good thing because this country needs a strong two party system to foster healthy debate and compromise.

For the Democrats, the new party will diminish our current overpowering majority (which is the compelling reason to pass our most important legislation now). Look for some of our centrists Democrats to join with the new party and abandon the Democratic Party to we progressives.

In the mean time we must utterly crush the obstructionist Republicans. They must be driven from the political scene with utmost haste. We must lock them out of the legislative process to prevent them from poisoning our legislation. There must be no compromise with the Republicans in an effort to pacify them. They had eight years to make things better and they failed. The cancer needs to be removed from the body. The Republicans must go.

5. Perhaps we can borrow Grover Norquist's bathtub to drown the rest of their Party.

7. Maybe they should stop oversimplifying issues into emotional soundbites then
Seriously, it seems like all the GOP does to solve problems is turn it into some market slogan and advocate it, regardless of how complex the issue is. Take balancing the budget for example, no how much spending is either 100% vital or nearly impossible to get congress to vote to cut if they want to get reelected, and no matter how low taxes are, republicans insist we can always balance the budget as fiscal conservatives by cutting taxes and spending at the same time.

8. We are actually witnessing an interesting part of future history...
Just as the Whigs went down, so is the GOP. The disasters they have tossed upon the American people have doomed them to a bookmark in the history books.

Reagan started the decline, and bush literally killed the party.

I might mourn if this was a remnant of the old GOP, the real party of Lincoln, but it has become a bastardized version and is barely recognizable now as the part that brought about some pretty darn good things.

I for one am glad to see it's demise. Since it was taken over by religious zealots, thieves and malcontents, it ceased to be a viable option, except for brain dead jugheads.
