The wingnuts have lost and they know it
I have been *talking* to them online for longer than I have been posting on DU. In fact, a comment one of them made to me led me here over 5 years ago. Anyway, I see it more and more all the time; they know they have lost. And they didn't lose a battle; they lost a war. They know that too.

They have no substance. They post no facts anymore (I should say their version of facts.) They have only hate and insults left in them. A sure sign of a loser.

Here is what one of them said to me today:

Apop, your opinion on the matter

is irrelevant. You are a far-left liberal who has no moral values (if it feels good, do it).

Why do people like you care more about animal rights than rights of the unborn?

You make me sick.

For the record, I have never once discussed animal rights with this nitwit.

1. They don't deal with us on an individual basis. Without knowing us, they assign definitions to us

and then proceed to spank us for being that way! :wtf:

2. "They post no facts anymore....they have only hate and insults left in them"
It's funny you should post this tonight, it's exactly how I felt after a trip to Free Republic today. I read their comments on the White House Correspondents' dinner and all they really could offer was racist and personal abuse towards the Obamas and Wanda Sykes - amazing stuff. Any time I drop in there now that's about it, either bible-bashing weirdness or racism. Like you, I just think: is that all you have? Pathetic.

3. It's not as much fun to talk to them anymore
I enjoy discussing issues when we both post links and back up what we are talking about. But they stopped doing that right after the election. There are still a few diehards who are in global warming denial but most of them are just hating and no longer discussing. Sometimes it's kinda funny but other times it's just sad.

5. I suppose it just shows they're right out of ideas
I enjoy reading well-thought-out opposing views, especially on issues I feel most strongly about, but all I seem to read these days from right wingers is (1) The President uses a teleprompter, (2) he's a communist, (3) he hates America and (4) he's black.

They're, um, very challenging arguments :-)

4. The local GOP has 6 poll watchers for the upcoming primary
They normally have 100.

They are abandoning their own party right now. The civil war they are having is having its tool.

We can say what we want about our party, however we are increasing in participation and interest, they are in a decline.

Some don't like it on here but you don't win elections without the party.

7. Locally they had a well publicized almost literal fight over Specter
prior to him leaving the party. Half the party wanted to preemptively endorse Toomey half wanted to stick with Specter.

When he left, it ended that argument but intensified the fighting. The Toomey people declared victory, the Specter people blamed the Toomey people for driving Specter out of the party. The problem is that the Specter people are all the officers of the party and the Toomey people are all the activist. Hence the party is falling apart.

This is not good for Toomey, the local party that elected him is literally in shambles as of this date. Not good news for his election chances in 2010 (not that I gave him much of a chance but we are talking Santorum level embarrassment). He probably will lose his former congressional district in the General Election.
