Can any one doubt what Cheney is doing?????
Cheney's motivation in yelling at the Administration in to innoculate himself from prosecution.

By attacking Obama, he makes any prosecution into a ralying cry of "political retribution" by the RW pundits and blogosphere, He is seeding the ground for getting any jusge to throw the case out.

It really is that simple and it will probably work.

1. That probably IS his motive, but it all depends on what old docs
are declassified and exactly what they say.

2. You're assuming that Cheney works within the law...

I don't give him that much credit.

I think he shows up, when he needs to remind the right people--that they'd better shut the hell up and keep quiet--or else.

He's a visual Tony Soprano--reminding everyone that they'd damn well better cover his ass and not roll over---or he'll be
sure to ruin careers, frame someone for a crime, or unleash the photos and taped conversations.

He appears to stoke the fear of the minions who know the truth about him.

"Son, we live in a world that has walls and those walls need to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and curse the Marines; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives and that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to. "

16. Ohhhh...that's good...
...and that's most likely EXACTLY how Cheney thinks.

I still maintain that he makes these little appearances to remind everyone that he's still a threat
you can still ruin lives.

It's really as simple as that.

17. I'd love to know...
If Obama knew the extent to which these Fascist bastards have control of our country---before he became President?

Or, did he get elected, think he was going to "rule" when suddenly the "powers that be" sat down and had a little chat
about how things really go down in this country?

I'd love to know the answer to this.

overnight.

Apart from the disappointment of imbeciles, only disappointed primary voters say "What about the hope and change?" like they're saying something interesting.

So, which one are you?

5. In the past it would have worked
But Cheney has truly overplayed his hand and for the most part everyone is puzzled and wondering why he won't go away. Furthermore, Obama has (smartly) distanced himself from the investigations that are going on, and as far as I know, he hasn't directly responded to Cheney.

the White House Press Dinner.

“Dick Cheney was supposed to be here but he’s very busy working on his memoirs, tentatively titled, How to Shoot Friends and Interrogate People .”

6. He's also trying himself in the court of public opinion
Obama SHOULD accommodate him and release the docs--but only as part of an official investigation.

14. ...which is exactly why Obama can't "say" anything, and hasn't really, like, "we should prosecute".
That would play exactly into this scheme of Cheney's et. al.
the POTUS has to be **completely** divested from any political aspects of this, unless we all want acquittals.

looks like the same guy we've seen for 8 years. He doesn't realize that now he is out of power it doesn't work so well. You gotta have power to wield it.

20. Agree. I think one of reasons
rethugs wish he would go away is every time he struts his dark side, it just reminds people all over again just how f*cking horrible the last 8 years were.

They only wish he would go away though. No one will suggest it or confront him because his cattle prod is long, fully charged and he is an expert at using it.
