Nancy Pelosi or Republicans... Who you gonna believe?
I did not agree with her declaration to take impeachment off of the table but that being said, this is a no brainer. Nancy Pelosi is far more credible than any wing of the Republican party. Who you gonna believe?

Nancy Pelosi or the CIA?
Nancy Pelosi or Dick Cheny?
Nancy Pelosi or John Boenert?
Nancy Pelosi or Fox News?
Nancy Pelosi or the Press corp?
Nancy Pelosi or George Bush?
Nancy Pelosi or the RNC?

Some tend to forget how we got into this mess. Lies. Deflection. Nancy Pelosi is the issue because the right believes they can make her the issue instead of the real issue. The efficacy of torture. The Republicans have been lying since 2001. The Iraq war. WMD. Al-Qiada-9/11 connection. Abu-Graib. Torture.

Whether you agree with Pelosi or not (she's a politician and all politicians obfuscate and parse words) let's understand one thing. She is much, much more credible than any smattering of Republican spittle.

The issue should not be about her. The press has all of a sudden decided to have a backbone... with of all people Nancy Pelosi. Where the fuck were they in the run up to the war? The Bush admin set the policy and they moved forward regardless of democratic noise.

Having said that, we should all be pushing back against the Republican change in focus because the real demon here is that they approved and enforced what was against the law... Torture. Being briefed is not nearly as important as setting policy especially when declassification of briefings and what was said in those briefings don't pass the smell test.

18. Yep.
The repukes never had credibility to begin with, and Nancy lost hers the minute she said Chimpeachment was "off the table".

10. I'm not really making my decision based on D or R but that being said...
look at where people line up. The mindset of people on the Right got us into majority of this mess and the left was willfully duped because they were scared of what could happen if they didn't follow along.

or choose to cherry pick... you still make a choice... especially when you vote. For president... you have D or R or I. You choose. If you don't make the choice, you don't participate. For those who vote... you make a choice. Donald Duck may be an option.

14. Pelosi has played this very poorly
irrespective of the facts (which everyone ought to know by now aren't nearly as important as perceptions in America) she basically shot herself in the foot, and the corporate media- which hasn't changed one iota outside of a small segment of MSNBC, is all too willing to oblige.

I will NEVER believe anything a Repug has to say, but that doesn't mean that Nancy isn't hiding something herself.

I don't have enough information to answer your question yet.

21. The party who opposed impeachment or the Speaker who opposed impeachment- who ya gonna believe?

;)

LOL! Couldn't resist- But seriously, I hope Nancy knows what she is doing, but I also hope she knows that I don't owe her a single drop of blood, sweat or tears.

What I'm saying is I hope she doesn't need me to rally around her. If she is on the up & up, then she should offer to go under oath and demand that everyone else goes under oath, etc. Seems that would put an end to all the back & forth.

25. Pelosi is unfortunately burning her credibility with her constantly changing stories on the issue
Edited on Fri May-15-09 07:52 PM by ShadowLiberal
It wouldn't surprise me at all if the CIA wasn't entirely truthful about what they told Pelosi with Bush appointees running the place, if they had been fully truthful then this whole drama playing out right now wouldn't be happening.

The problem unfortunately is that outside of the hardcore liberal base Pelosi is burning a lot of her credibility by constantly changing her story of what the CIA told her, when she found out about the torture, etc. What's really sad about this situation to is that it doesn't matter what Pelosi knew and when she knew it, she wouldn't have been able to stop it from happening anyway.

26. Remember that it was Speaker Pelosi that put impeachment off the table.
Our republic needs the President to appoint a special prosecutor and let him or her pursue the evidence where it leads and, if the evidence warrants it, prosecute those that broke the law.
