1. If people are lying on her, she should be defended.
I'm glad that we didn't get into impeachment. We might have lost the elections behind that....and if so, where would we be now?

4. In a law-abiding country? Actually, I think we would have won the elections by...
...an even greater margin if we had IMPEACHED.

And if people are lying on her, yes, she should be defended. But by the same token, if she took IMPEACHMENT "off the table" because of this, she should be prosecuted along with Cheney** and Bush**.

17. You Called For Prosecution, Sir, And For That there Are No Grounds
Nor is there any real 'implication' of responsibility or dereliction attaching to Speaker Pelosi.

But this sort of noise from the left has consequences. It is no accident the defenders of the Bush administration have chosen this present line. They have been cued to it by noises on the left, and feel that they can both divide President Obama's supporters, and give their attack a 'bi-partisan' veneer, since some on the left are saying about the same thing as they are about 'Pelosi's complicity'.

8. If we had impeached, Bush would have been acquitted.
Edited on Fri May-15-09 01:28 PM by Occam Bandage
We never had the votes in the Senate. Fuck, we don't even have the votes with 59 Democrats--eight more than we had in '07--to pass quite a bit of legislation. I fail to see how having the Senate declare Bush acted legally would be a win for the Democrats.

Oh, and claiming Pelosi could be prosecuted for not bringing impeachment to a full vote? Absolutely absurd.

7. Not at all. The Pelosi-bashing is a naked attempt by Republicans to deflect
outrage at their actions by baselessly claiming that Nancy Pelosi is somehow at fault. Had she impeached Bush, they would of course have launched the exact same campaign they are launching at the moment. They cannot defend their illegal actions, so they falsely claim Democrats were "in on it" too as a way of muddying the waters.

The Republicans are the ones who broke the law. Bush was the one who committed impeachable offenses, yet we speak of karma for Pelosi for taking impeachment off the table while Bush and Cheney roam the earth in luxury and under our tax dollar funded protection. What the fuck is wrong with our thinking? Have the Republicans so duped us that we just walk like zombies into every single one of their propaganda-trigger traps? We eat our own before we even think about taking the real criminals to task. It's mindboggling. Oh my god. (slapping myself out of it)

32. I thought that
But after today. I starting thinking , they were trying to scare her. thinking if she was in the news, and the corporate media is putting it on thick. that she would back down out of political fear. Because we all know , she took Impeachment off the Table. The news is putting it all on her. No one is talking about anyone else. The propaganda machine is in full swing.
I hope she calls their bluff, and calls for investigations. I think she's mad enough right now. They put her in a corner and she went along with them, but now their threatening her. I hope she nails them to the wall.

36. Yes. That and her two years of cowering before the Bush administration.
Worst Democratic Speaker in over 50 years.

I don't know what the big deal is. We've known for years she was given classified reports about torture years ago and sat meekly by and did nothing. Jay Rockefeller, too. The collaborated with the Bush administration by remaining silent, apparently afraid to be seen as opposing the "war on terror."

You could pick a name out of a hat in the HOUSE Democratic caucus and come up with a more effective speaker. If her constituency wants to keep her in congress, I don't care, but I hate having her ruin the House with her "leadership," a misnomer, of course.
