I love my President ..... What a speech
I stand here today as someone whose own life was made possible by these documents. My father came to our shores in search of the promise that they offered.
My mother made me rise before dawn to learn of their truth when I lived as a child in a foreign land. My own American journey was paved by generations of
citizens who gave meaning to those simple words – “to form a more perfect union.” I have studied the Constitution as a student; I have taught it as a teacher;
I have been bound by it as a lawyer and legislator. I took an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution as Commander-in-Chief, and as a citizen,
I know that we must never – ever – turn our back on its enduring principles for expedience sake.

4. Great speech. He lets the talkers run their mouths into a frenzy
then he addresses the hotly contested topics of the day.

He did what I'd hoped, among other things:

*Reminded everyone when the largest terrorist attack on 9/11 occurred ("less than eight years removed")
*Made the point that he has seen the intelligence and is making decisions based on that
*Called out everyone including the MSM on staying silent while Guantanamo was established
*Reminded everyone that he is not the only one in the city who took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution
*Quoted a couple of Republicans to support HIS points
*Pointed out that only THREE convictions were produced in 7 years in Guantanamo, and over 200 detainees were released during the Bush administration
*Pointed out that terrorists have been tried and convicted on American soil and currently reside in American prisons
*Tied his arguments back to upholding the Constitution (standing squarely in front of the wall engraved "Constitution of the United States of America" drove home the point)

Good move to speak before Cheney. Cheney and the MSM will damn well wait until the President has had his say.

5. Cheney can't hold a candle to the mind of this President

He has now come out from his wheelchair, his bullets for friends and his cave in the WH to tell us how we should "stay safe."

LOL

6. Then let's see his admin. prosecute those who are guilty of war crimes. Otherwise words ring hollow.
He doesn't get to pick and choose.

7. That's a fact
History never forgets war crimes regardless of what country commits them.

9. Some guy from the Heritage Institute called it incoherant and disjointed.
 I doubt Obama is incoherant and disjointed if he talks in his sleep.
