1. Not sure how much respect there was...he was doing that arm-grip thing.
That's usually done to signal dominance.

5. That Jack's a little one.
He probably has to bark big to get any respect. It does look like he really gave it a squeeze but Obama doesn't look phased in the least. Poodle meet Great Dane!

After seeing some of the other graduates reactions I do feel bad about picking on Jack. Peace, Kim

7. so does that mean Pres. Obama doesn't respect anyone?
he does the arm-grip all the time. he's probably doing the same to Jack on the other side that's out of camera view.

22. True, and somehow i can't see him doing that with other superior officers.
I guess the rules of how you properly greet commanders over your rank are suspended when it's the Commander in Chief at your graduation...

26. But when the President grips your arm .... what he means is, "I love you..."
ha ha .... but you're right and that fascinates me because he (Barack) does it all the time, intentioned or otherwise .... it says "I like you enough to touch you, but I'm controlling the situation."

He says in his book he even caught himself doing it to * the first time they met and felt bad about it later. lol

25. Ah man. Look at the video. This kid clearly was not doing an arm grip
rather just moving his hand down after the hug. Actually a nice moment.

11. cool! by the way, About the arm-grip subject upthread....
I don't see the arm grip here as a dominance play. It reads as a male way of conveying strongly felt respect, to me.

19. that's the way I see it too...touching is a form of
affection and that seemed to showed his strong like for Obama. His body language doesn't speak of dominance at all--just profound respect.

..... in what I wrote above. ^^

I dont think President Obama does it on purpose but it's brilliance ..... but then when he hiccups I think it's a brilliant way of taking in air quickly, so ignore me. ;)

Nobody, not matter what office they hold, has the right.

Just thinking out the handshake between Obama and Chavez and what the chatter class said about that.

John McCain was very good looking when he was young. I think that's how he got Cindy.

John McCain before he became a vietnam prisoner and pre-torture

42. Not sure that CIndy would be that upset.
Not being First Lady probably makes her life a lot easier, especially since she avoided the inevitable scene after McCain keeled over in office and Sarah the Fielddresser told her she had 20 minutes to clear out her stuff.
