Salazar: A Supreme suggestion
WASHINGTON — Gov. Bill Ritter and the state's two freshman senators are asking President Barack Obama to "seriously consider" appointing Interior Secretary Ken Salazar (54 years old) to the U.S. Supreme Court.

In a letter sent to the White House on Friday, the Democrats touted the diversity and unique experience Salazar would bring to the bench — a Westerner who from hard-scrabble beginnings has risen to become one of the country's most successful Latino politicians.

"He would provide the viewpoint of a Western and Latino leader and bring a wealth of experience from his many years in both the public and private sectors," Ritter said of the push to consider Salazar to fill the spot being vacated by retiring Justice David Souter.

1. Does Salazar have an equally qualified sister?
I like the Spanish heritage aspect, because it's quite obvious that the court is shy in that demographic, but I do think we need four more women on the bench.

2. Salazar? Really???
He was a supreme disappointment as a Senator (remember Gonzo's confirmation hearing?). As SecInterior it's too early to tell but I won't be surprised when he folds to Big Oil. So he's Hispanic. Whoopee!

4. Ritter's Choice of Bennet Disqualifies Him
from making any suggestions IMO.

I was all glad when Salazar was picked for SOI, then came Bennet. Ugh...they both suck.

6. Please no, not Salazar....
He turned a blind eye while Big Oil poisoned the groundwater for many thousands of people here on Colorado's western slope.

He's nothing more than a puppet of the Texas oil Republicans. They say: "Jump!" Salazar asks: "How high?"

7. The only reason to do that would be to get him out of the Interior Dept.
where he has already removed the wolf from the endangered species list, even though his predeccesor under the worst environmental president in history never did. And it took him less than 2 months.

9. It's pro forma suck-up. I'm sure Michigan's Dems are pushing Granholm like crazy.
Neither of them will get the job, I hope.
