PHOTO The New Tutankhamun of the World? O......kay.


A souvenir shop-owner displays a recently-made metal plaque for sale to tourists reading "Obama, New Tutankhamun of the World", in the Khan el-Khalili market area of Cairo, Egypt Thursday, May 28, 2009, ahead of President Barack Obama's planned June 4 speech in Cairo on U.S. relations with the Muslim world. The sign refers to Tutankhamun who was one of the last Pharaohs of Egypt's 18th Dynasty and ruled during a crucial, turmoil-filled period in Egyptian history. Hieroglyphics at base of plaque were claimed by the vendor to spell the name "Obama".

3. What an odd comparison. Tut was 9 years old when he became pharaoh
and died at 19 possibly from an infection that set in after an accident that broke a thigh bone. The very young king was run by his advisers and notably restored the old gods turning away from monotheism.

29. That theory was put out back in the earlier part of the 20th century, but more recent MRIs
and a better understanding of how the bodies were mummified have led to the accident/infection theory. I learned something by going to the King Tut exhibit a couple of weeks ago. LOL.

and asked if the Egyptians were excited or not so much about Obama's visit. He said they are very excited and he is well liked.
