The Republicans are much angrier about a Black man spending money
...than about thousands dying in a war based on lies.

Which is why I don't think we should worry about what angers them, rather, we should worry about what DOESN'T.

2. I don't think most freepers care that he's black
Edited on Sat May-30-09 10:37 PM by Enrique
they care much more about him being a democrat.

edit: I was wrong, I just went over there, it's different from what I remember. People are making blatantly racist statements and no one is calling them out on it.

I remember racism was not ok over there, people would call out the racism, maybe the non-bigots have all left in disgust.

4. scratch the surface
lots of anger at women and black people over there. find the themes in what angers them --it's people they are angry at, and it's certain types of people oftentimes.

6. Oh, they care about both.
They're all flocking to Rush because they fear they're losing something. Minorities (Obama, Sotomayor) are gaining more power.

15. Exactly. They are afraid because minorities are no longer going to be the minority.
In the future they will be the majority in this country and that leaves them frightened and the rest of us laughing at their ridiculousness.

8. I am guessing you haven't seen some of the racist bullshit that has been posted here from there.
Edited on Sat May-30-09 10:37 PM by Lilyeye
They have said that Michelle looks like a gorilla; that Michelle and the President were going to turn the WH into a section 8 housing project and that black culture has hurt America. There is more I won't even get into. Yes they hate all democrats and would attack a white one, but many of the attacks against the President and his wife have been very racial. In the President's case, if it was strictly about him being a democrat the racial stuff wouldn't even be a factor.

16. many freepers think the only difference between "blacks" and "democrats"
is that "democrats" includes black sympathizers.

as for the racism thing, freepers and right-wingers have always been racists and that's deeply embedded in their policies. the only thing they ever object to about overt racism is the wiser ones among them know that it usually doesn't play well these days. that's why they go for ever-so-slightly more subtle forms of racism, just enough to rile up their base while giving their leaders plausible deniability.

17. No, they're horrible racists
and if they'd had their way 150 years ago Obama would be a shoeshine boy in their cloakroom.

10. Nah, the rethugs have been and always will be worried about their own
asses. Not their constituents, not their government, just their own asses.

OK, most of them. I can't think of a single stand-out though who thinks differently.

Heh, he/she wouldn't be a rethug.
