AG Holder sending US Marshals to protect abortion clinics & docs
US Attorney General Eric Holder is dispatching US Marshals to protect abortion clinic and doctors around the country.

Holder issued the following statement:

The murder of Doctor George Tiller is an abhorrent act of violence, and his family is in our thoughts and prayers at this tragic moment. Federal law enforcement is coordinating with local law enforcement officials in Kansas on the investigation of this crime, and I have directed the United States Marshals Service to offer protection to other appropriate people and facilities around the nation. The Department of Justice will work to bring the perpetrator of this crime to justice. As a precautionary measure, we will also take appropriate steps to help prevent any related acts of violence from occurring.

2. You know tomorrow..
the right will be in full fledge accusatory mode blaming the Obama administration of making this political. I hope Obama and team stand firm and don't back down like they did on the homeland security report. This is very serious and the non-extremist in this country need to know that their government is on top of this.

3. So the Marshalls are ordered in, and there is still a snark to be found about the President....
In the meantime, the Right outright blames Pres. Obama for this killing.
Wow...whata world!

4. Amazing isn't it?
The right blames Obama for everything to begin with, and some on the left are never happy to begin with.

Good to see a solid no nonsense President step up to protect Americans citizens doing lawful things.

6. I think you all are misinterpreting my comments.
What I meant about the homeland security report was that the right made such a big deal over the wording of “right wing extremist” and they also attacked her for going after veterans which was not the case, which caused Janet Napolitano to sate she should have worded it differently.

As today’s tragic events show the report was correct from the beginning and the same attacks will be used against Obama regarding today’s tragedy. There are already reports out that the right feels Obama’s statements were too strong today. Not to mention the loony that led the anti-Obama rallies at Notre Dame coming out today not worried about the murder but worried about how the Obama administration will use this to push their agenda, crazy I know but this is what we are up against.

As you can see from my post count, I am very new here but I am extremely pro-Obama.

7. I hope they don't get tunnel vision on this, and are on heightened alert for ALL whom the terrorists
would have high on their lists.

14. Janet Napolitano's "rewording" and near retraction of the report from DHS

regarding right-wing terrorism.

People on the right complained about it and she was cowed.

I am hoping this won't be the case here. Because we can expect to see "Obama Administration abuses governmental power" arguments from the right anytime now.

No need to get hostile. See post #6 - they're thinking along the same lines.

16. Apples and oranges. If anything, this tragic incident vindicates Napolitano.
Napolitano apologized for something legitimate: releasing a preliminary report without final approval. I doubt AG Holder will "back down" because he's following the law. And I haven't heard any complaints from Republicans because they can hardly cheer on this death without mass approbation.

18. Good. Time to protect our doctors. Sad that sentiment even needs to be said.

And yet we have more proof how much elections matter.

Do you think that federal marshals would be dispatched if McCain and Bible Spice were in the WH?

I doubt it.

This is fantastic news. And frankly, I have little fear of how the anti-choice nutjobs try to spin this. These marshals are going to be protecting the lives of trained professionals doing perfectly legal procedures. Don't quite know how you turn public opinion against that.
