Come to think of it, I like all the First Ladies except for Barbara Bush.
(Yes, I even like Laura Bush.)

But Michelle Obama totally outshines them all!

Thanks, Jackeens. :)

33. Who says she voted for McCain?
Maybe you did indeed read that she said she had.

I find that confounding as McCain's first wife was a great friend of Nancy Reagan and it has been widely reported that she could never forgive him after he dumped, while infirm, for Cindy.

19. Gawd, how damnably sweet!!!! & Thanks..
Such respect and affection for each other - it's just so cool.

Never liked Nancy when he was in office, but she grew in stature when they left office (I guess, something like Jimmy Carter)...and I learned to like her. Maybe it's because I finally saw that her affection for President Reagan was real.

I love the expression in Obama's eyes when he looks at her. He is just, well, indescribable in his "right" feelings and attitudes. You gotta love him (if you're normal).

Thank you so much for posting this.

34. You might be surprised. I think there is actually a very good chance she voted for Obama
given the fact that she was very good friends with McCain's first wife and it's been written that she never forgave him after dumping his wife, while she was ailing, for Cindy.

From what I have read, I find it difficult to believe that Nancy punched her chad for McCain.

At least she's on the right side of the stem cell issue.

District 14's replacement for Denny Hastert.

Have mixed feelings about this - as my congressman is there, can only assume there will be more hoopla in our district about Reagan - or something else named after him.

41. The video of this event was extraordinary.
Obama was so sweet and gracious toward Mrs. Reagan, making sure to hold her hand whenever he wasn't using it to sign the bill. Not that anyone else wouldn't be gracious toward her, but he just appeared to be extraordinarily thoughtful about making sure she was right there with him, and the center of attention.

The last picture speaks volumes.

WHY HIM?? There are PLENTY of other dead Presidents, some of whom gave their lives and aren't named Lincoln.

Inaugural Day release of Iranian hostages? Iran-Contra? Ed Meese and "the poor just want free chesse"? James Watt and the environment? "Trickle-down" economics? Bitburg "WWII veterans are all dead now" SS Cemetery? Challenger's O-rings? Grenada? Ollie North?

Don't get me started.

She wasn't the President, and it's the Repukes who keep pushing him in our faces.

Yeah, Obama signed the proclimation (or whatever it was).

But I just cannot blame a wife for what her husband did with the support of a lot of people who actually HAD power.

47. It remainds me of the way Obama holds babies
He is always sure that the babies are not only secure but that they *feel* secure -- and you never see one that looks nervous or worried.

He holds onto Nancy Reagan's arm the same way -- clearly focusing on her, providing support, and moving only at a pace that won't get her off balance. Even the way he brings his left hand across to hold her hand as she holds his right arm (in four different pictures!) means he is monitoring her stability very closely.

He has an intuitive sense of the *presence* of others that is rare.
