One thing that worries me about president Obama: I keep seeing pictures of him,
Mrs. Obama and/or members of the staff tossing a football or basketball around the Oval office. While I admire the camaraderie, the casual athleticism, I do worry about the antique breakables. Not that I care about the breakables so much, Early American isn't really my thing, but that we'll never hear the end of it from the right.

3. It's the mother in me - I've spent years warning the kids not to throw things in the house.

4. I'm not losing sleep over this. Hope you don't either. And I'll bake you a pie
if you can produce a single image of First Lady Michelle Obama tossing a football or basketball in the Oval Office, as I would venture that one does not exist and therefore cannot see how you can "keep seeing them" unless they are a part of the elaborate anxiety nightmares you are having in regards to the "breakables" in the White House.

9. What dildo gets up in the morning and says "I think I'll take a FOOTBALL to the Oval Office today"
for my meeting with the President - so I can be photographed tossin the ol pigskin around in the White House?

Issues. Issues. Missing the frathouse paddle are we?
They probably have a pill for that kind of problem by now. Call Bethesda.

13. Actually, I have vague memories of Right wingers being concerned over
the Irish-Catholic JFK having enough respect for the White House and other institutions. Almost 50 years on, it's just about impossible for people today to fathom how much of an outsider JFK was. My mother and aunt still joke with each other, "don't do that, people will think you're Irish!" They grew up knowing that as children of immigrants they were always on trial. Mrs. Kennedy's campaign to restore the White House was a brilliant response to that attitude.

I'm not expressing myself very well on this and irritating a lot of people. The Obamas are gracious people with a lot of class and a true understanding of etiquette. It's not about which fork to use (although they do use the right fork!) but about making their guests feel welcome, respected and at ease. Just look at the care he took with Mrs.Reagen yesterday.

14. I'm not sure the Oval Office has the antique breakables like the other rooms?
The desk is an antique. But the Oval Office, being a daily meeting room, may not contain the fine breakable antiques that the other rooms have.
