2. I hope Dresdner isn't a type of pastry...
But there are right wing pundits who think they know German better than the Germans.

4. Nice shot!
Wow, you did a nice shot of one of our flyer from the campaign - "Ich bin ein Dresdner".
We would like to see this photo in our Fan-Photo-Archive wich you'll find here: http://obama.besucht-dresden.de

To understand what the campaing is about > read our press release in english: http://obama.besucht-dresden.de/press-releases.html

Really a nice shot you did!

Just an info: the flyer is adhesive, so he can be removed from it's place allready. It's no sticker or something like that.

I was fortunate enough to be stationed in Wiesbaden in the '80's, and had a lot of time to tour germany...beautiful country.

it is a pleasure to see this, as opposed to seeing bush burned in effigy or hanging from a pole...:D

Welcome to DU!...:D

7. That bit was hilarious.
But does that mean the poster should read "Ich bin Dresdener"?

9. Ich bin ein Hamburger
Without trying to bore the arse off you all with a lecture on German grammar, in real high German one should say "Ich bin Dresdner" without the article, but there are a lot of accents and regional dialects where it is allowed. In Koblenz, for example, it's normal to use the article before someones first name. So, der Barack und die Michelle...

For a large number of Germans (and students of German) Kennedy did claim donuthood, but the real shame is that there is no such thing as a Dresdner. The nearest thing they've got is Dresdner Stollen - a very rich Christmas cake. Shame he didn't go to Nuremberg. Then he could have been a small spicy sausage.
