Sarah Palin:Obama wants to "control the pepole" with bailout money
Edited on Thu Jun-04-09 05:39 PM by sarah553807
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin said in a speech Wednesday that the Obama White House is trying to "control the people."

Palin was introducing Michael Reagan -- the son of former President Ronald Reagan -- to an audience in Anchorage. She and took the opportunity to educate her audience on the ways in which the president's policies "fly in the face of principles" and "defy Economics 101."

CNN reported on the speech:

"Since when can you get out of huge national debt by creating trillions of dollars of new debt?" Palin asked. "It all really is so backwards and skewed as to sound like absolute nonsense when some of this economic policy is explained."

"We need to be aware of the creation of a fearful population, and fearful lawmakers, being led to believe that big government is the answer, to bail out the private sector, because then government gets to get in there and control it," she said. "And mark my words, this is going to be next, I fear, bail out next debt-ridden states. Then government gets to get in there and control the people."

2. That is a Rightwing talking point. Make people "dependent" on government handouts
and turn them into lazy Democratic layabouts on the dole, sucking off the hardearned wages of the Republicans. See also "redistribute" for similar talking points. I have heard variations on that theme for years from Limbaugh, Boortz, Hannity, etc.

9. Much better for people to be dependant on the corporate bosses
On the dole of needing a job or you starve, you have to accept any wage or you are homeless, banks can set what ever rates they want, because you have to borrow to feed your children.

Had a friend once in upper management, he had a side job in his off time doing small real estate things. They told him to quit the side job or they would fire him, even though it was only in his off time. The corporate bosses did not want anything to break their control over his thinking, any idea of alternative income was a threat to that control.

The same corporate system only promoted people with wives and children, because they could be controlled easier, since threatening to fire someone that knows their children might not have money for food or cloths, is far more effective.

18. I had a boss tell me that once about a part-time job I had.
It never interefered with my full-time job, yet he said I had an exclusive contract with him, and him only.

I told him if he paid me enough, I wouldn't need a part-time job just to make ends meet.

So the next time card I turned in had 168 hours on it, a full 24X7 for the entire week. I figured since I was techically owned by him every hour I was alive, I should be paid for it.

He got the message.

3. Obama shouldn't have bailed out the big banks. Republicans all loved it, but
here they are attacking it.

11. History rewrite success.
Edited on Thu Jun-04-09 05:57 PM by RandomThoughts
When Cheney was talking about bailouts of GM as wrong, and how they should be allowed to fail, it was insane, since it was Bush Cheney that bailed out 700 Billion to banks. It did not make sense for him to blanket say bailouts are bad.

I thought Cheney was trying to lay the entire bail out onto President Obama. Rewrite the moving of 700Billion from the Republicans, to President Obama. I can see by your post that rewrite worked with you.

Treasury Secretary Paulson, under Bush/Cheneey, did the 700 Billion bailout. And did it with a threat of total collapse, something that actually may be needed.

You know those R's though: they have totally mastered the art of projection.

Kind of reminds of of a little child who closes their eyes and thinks you can't see them.

Bailed out the savings and loan industry, or ran up federal debt to new record levels.

14. Why doesn't she ask the guy who did this to the U.S.? GWB ...
I liken Bush to this:

Employee finishes up his calculations just as the boss (Bush) walks in ...

Employee says "Hey, boss! We finally have enough money to start paying down our old debts!"

Boss says "Great! I'm going to order my new company car ... a Ferrari ..."

Employee, dumbfounded, just stares back at his worksheets ...

17. I don't believe Ms. Palin is in a position to educate
anyone. Without doubt, she has to be the most cerebrally challenged individual to ever run on a presidential ticket. She ought to stick to speaking about issues in which she is well versed: graft, corruption, and grandchildren.

19. It's an investment, you moron. Unlike the money pit that is Iraq
where money goes in...and never comes out.

Bailout money = investing in infrastructure, education, jobs = a large return on investment
Over $1 trillion to occupy a country nobody (here or there) wants us to be in = financial black hole.

20. Well maybe he will do better with the people than with Wall Street...
So far he doesn't seem to have much control over Wall Street does he?

She is just another example of why some Republicans will no longer vote for Republicans. Too much was finally too much. And she definitely was and is too much on top of everything else.

27. Wow. Those comments are a mess.
Palin warns her audience, "Then government gets to get in there and control the people."

A reporter should ask Gov. Palin if she's familiar at all with that document -- I forget the exact name -- that starts out with "We the people...".

It would be interesting to hear how she responds.
