Major Update On "Little Barack"!

I will be going to the event in Green Bay tomorrow. I was there tonight and as of that point this little boy hadn't as of yet heard anything about meeting the President or getting a ticket to this event. I am volunteering, so there was some training. Anyway, after that was over I gave the full story to someone, someone high up in this administration, believe me. Actually he just happened to be there as I was telling this story to someone else there. This man gave me two tickets to give to my student! Also, I asked him about the possibility, however remote, of this boy meeting President Obama. He said he wasn't sure about that, but it was a possibility! This guy would know, believe me. Damn, I'm bursting, but I probably should not share who this is. Maybe later. Anyway, I will have some pictures to share tomorrow, and a story to tell! This would be such a great human interest story, and I would love it if the national media would tell about it. Hey, you never know! If any of you watch this tomorrow, I'll be wearing a 66 jersey (my favorite Green Bay Packer, Ray Nitschke), so stay tuned! It's a small venue, so you just might see me!

I had in my mind when I cast my vote for O for President -- one could be seen in his Cairo speech, and the other is seen in the face of your friend, and for all the other young black men in our country.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys. :hi:

I don't have links, mostly anecdotal, but there are indications that drop-out rates are dropping among at-risk and L.E.S city students.

I would happily attribute that to the fact that we have a different and inspiring leader.

I would similarly attribute positive changes in world affairs to this same change.

As a former teacher, I'm guessing he would keep the student's name private unless authorized to share it publicly.

And they had to portray their subjects as if they were them. This kid chose Barack Obama. They had a day where visitors came to view their projects and each kid would give a speech to about their subject in the first person. His went something like, "Hello, I'm Barack Obama. I was born in Hawaii." Etc. So that's why he's the Little Barack.

come too easily when you've been around as long and seen as much as I have...My faith in politicians Do The Right Thing is pretty much zero.

That being said, I can smell that we're probably closer than we've been in my lifetime, or ever will be again, to a National Health care system...I'm doing what I can.

it's likely he is now covered under SCHIP.

But, boy am I beat! I'll put up some pics, but video will take me a while. Yes, I did meet the little boy and his mom. Actually, they ended up sitting quite close to me.

Every time I've seen something about Obama in Green Bay mentioned in the news lately I've thought about you and your student. :)

I was there working the parking, and whenever someone came from the shuttle, I got to see them first:

He's such a cutie! I hope he had a wonderful time. (And you too, of course. :) )

Little Barack and his mom as they came off the shuttle. Bless them both, they were so happy.:)
