The smaller the pool, the more unfair the system is. I worked at an office where some of the employees were older people (+55). We looked into healthcare costs and found that, because of the age of some of the employees, we would all pay a fortune in premiums. Fortunately, we lived close to Mexico, so we traveled there for our dental care - sure as hell couldn't afford $1000 for a root canal and $400 for a crown (vs. $175 and $75 (porcelain), respectively). That was 10+ years ago and my Mexican root canal and crowns are still going strong.

Unless the co-ops were huge, the costs would vary widely. The best co-op would be a nationwide co-op - I'll support that! It's called "Medicare For All."

today to have a town hall meeting about health. I think he will be getting an ear full. The last town hall meeting I saw him at, where the subject was anything they wanted to ask about, the first question out of the chute was health and single payer. I would like to see it, if it is on anywhere.
