Read this and tell me how we have any hope of true health care reform.
The reality is that both parties have been completely bought off in the health care debate.

1. To tell the truth...
...I never expected any real health care reform.

9. I did but the Senate is so fuckin' dirty. I became discouraged by them.
I feel as though Obama's health care reform plan is going to fall flat.

10. I wasn't sure where or who would short out the process...
...but I was reasonably sure that health care reform would be crushed or rendered impotent.

15. It looks like it's the Senate. One Senator---a Dem for that matter.

12. Nor did I.
And if we get any at all, it will be way too expensive and not nearly effective enough to justify the cost.

2. It's starting to look more and more as if we only have one political party.
The so called Democrats are getting as dirty and bought off as the Republicans are.
What happened to "We the People..." that this country is suppose to be about?

3. But we have *drum roll* digital TV!
Our elected leaders priorities are really warped.

13. That should tell you why we don't have health care reform.
The government couldn't even handle the DTV conversion properly, and we expect it to handle a responsibility like the effective reform of health care?

What's scariest to me is Obama trumpeting "it's this year or never," which is a.) bullshit, and b.) tells me that whatever bill we get will be a rushed and poorly-crafted one, presumably one with which there won't be time to read it before voting on it.

Whatever we get, it's not going to be good. I honestly think we may be better off with nothing than with a rushed bill.

4. What ever happened to conflict of interest laws?
How is it that elected officials are allowed to have any ties whatever to corporations? Shouldn't they (and their families) be required to divest themselves of all holdings and positions in the private sector as a condition of being elected?

5. I actually sent Obama, Reid and Pelosi letters regarding this. I said no
politician who has receive the majority of their campaign funding from the health and pharma industries should not be part of any committee crafting a health care plan because it's a major conflict of interest. Yes, they should have their vote but that's all they should have.

6. Good luck with that. I'm sure they are currently using yours and similar letters to wipe their bums.
That's the kind of respect that politicians have for the public.

8. I'm not holding my breath with health care reform. The Senate is evil. If it goes bad LGBT
rights will also go to hell in a high water and I don't know if DADT or DOMA would get repealed with the clowns in the Senate.

11. We have no hope of true health care reform.
The only change will come when the thing finally collapses under its own weight in 30 or 40 years.

18. I did not expect anything else. Healthcare will NEVER be a right in America.
You will always be perfectly free to die of disease if you are poor in America.
