Clinton fractures elbow

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Secretary of State Hillary Clinton fractured her right elbow Wednesday during a fall, State Department officials said.

Clinton fell Wednesday afternoon on her way to the White House and was taken to George Washington University Hospital. She was treated and released, and will have surgery to repair her elbow in coming weeks.

“Secretary Clinton appreciates the professionalism and kindness she received from the medical team who treated her this evening and looks forward to resuming her full schedule soon,” said Cheryl Mills, a State Department spokeswoman.

She put herself on the line in 1993 and tried her best to get us healthcare, which is a lot more than others have done.

66. My first thought too. Hillary wanted healthcare for EVERY USA citizen 15 years ago.
Hillary cares about those who need help... always has and always will.

That's the main reason why I love her. I like Bill, but I love Hillary.

we assume too much to think a huge fall is necessary to cause the injury
a very slight fall can cause ankle or wrist fractures
eta
and an elbow fracture could be caused most likely by striking somthing as a person fell
so while the fall could have been minor the consequences of the fall are not

41. I would be interested in knowing if they have injury prone sides of their bodies.
For me its the left side, every broken bone, every cut, happens on that side. This usually when I get really into certain mental activities, and lose body awareness, I tend to lose awareness of one half. I think working too hard in the intellectual fields can do that, rewire your brain. Everybody in this country should be doing Tai Chi, we'd probably find ourselves a lot better off.

39. Not all of them, thank goodness.........
Here's someone responding to another poster:

I am pleasantly surprised by how posters put aside their political feelings to show sympathy

There are plenty of decent folks on FR -- I've seen prayers for recovery go up for a variety of political opponents, including really extreme cases like Ted Kennedy.

Besides, there are many of us who would have much rather seen Hillary in the WH than the current occupant. She has earned a certain grudging respect.

Who knows? There may be hope for them yet.

47. Bless her Heart
I love Hillary

ALL AMERICAN LADY
Hillary was a Lay Minister in her Methodist Church.
Hillary has always been a regular attendee at church. Unlike you know who.
Hillary loves her Bible.
Hillary has always prayed to God for Guidance. With her family.
In private as directed by Jesus not on street corners as the hypocrites.
Hillary cares for the less fortunate as Jesus.
Hillary loves Peace On Earth not Wars
Hillary is against killing via executions.
I disagree with her on Gay marriage and permissive abortions..
Her husband had it correct and shut out opponents with his--
Safe-Legal-Rare--Rape-Incest-mom's life
Opponents are "mommies killers" let mom die to save itsy bitsy sperm and egg.
They will eventually want to outlaw Masturbation--Menstrual Period--Wet Dreams.
They destroy eggs and sperm which prevents life.
Hillary loves her family. She suffered to keep her marriage intact.
She stuck by Bill's adultery due to her strong love for him as a total person not just one bad virtue amongst many good ones.
She knew her husband was 99% pure .
Hillary earned $23,000 one year as First Lady of Arkansas when her fellow lawyers made hundreds of thousands.
She spent a year and visited every school district working to improve schools.
Hillary is no Smearer.
Hillary does not Lie(intent to deceive)
Hillary respects others even when they disagree.
Hillary invited to the White House one of most evil smearers. Richard Melon Scaife.
Hillary has a brilliant mind. Not alcohol scorched one.
Hillary will hire experts in each area to manage our government. Bill did same.
One of major reason for Clinton's success was the experts he hired in the government.

Clinton to Have Surgery to Repair Elbow Fractured in a Fall
By MARK LANDLER
Published: June 18, 2009

WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will have to undergo surgery to repair a fractured right elbow, caused when she slipped and fell on her way to a White House meeting on Wednesday evening, the State Department said Thursday.

----------

The mishap occurred as Mrs. Clinton was walking to her car in the basement of the State Department. She was headed to a meeting with President Obama, accompanied by the administration’s special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard C. Holbrooke.

After Mrs. Clinton fell, Mr. Holbrooke said, “She struggled to get up to go to the meeting, but the pain was very intense.” Still lying on the ground, she instructed Mr. Holbrooke to go without her and reminded him to brief the president about a visit to Afghanistan planned by the State Department’s new ambassador for women’s issues, Melanne Verveer.

“She said, ‘Go to the meeting, that’s an order,’ ” Mr. Holbrooke said. Mrs. Clinton’s surgery has not been scheduled yet, officials said, throwing her travel plans into doubt. She is scheduled to go to a meeting next week of foreign ministers of Group of 8 countries in Trieste, Italy, as well as a European security meeting on the Greek island of Corfu.
