I am suggesting is that those of us who are passionate about the need for Health Care reform, agree on some sort of campaign aimed toward the Blue Dog Democrats, who are plainly obstructionists in regard to such reform.

1. I would love to see a movement by the people and for the people...
Isn't there supposed to be a protest on June 25 on the capital? But, for those of us who can't attend the rally, we need to make our voices heard by signing up to the "Stand with Dean" organization and/or Obama.com. We have to get our voices out there.

2. It's bigger than DU
Get in touch with the folks you worked with in the presidential election campaign. Call them and get them to contact the blue dogs on health care. That's what we are doing here in Durham with our newly minted Senator, who has so far not lived up to expectations.

3. Fragmentation is the problem
The process seems to be;
Find a cause
Enlist followers
Start an organization
Raise money for the cause
Then raise more money for the cause.
Have a march for the cause (which will be ignored by the media and the congress)
Raise more money for the cause. and when you are big enough hire a paid staff and open an office.

With this kind of dynamics you would not want the change you first purpose.

What is missing is that all of these causes have one single obsticle...the fact that the congress is loyal to the lobbyist that fund them and no one seems to realize that no cause will be changed as long as the system is not changed....but then that works for everyone...because it keeps all the individual causes alive as well and the oligarchs continue to do as they please.

4. Its different here...Iran is much much smaller and many of the population is under 35.
Its very easy to fragment people in the US when we are so different from each other.

5. Our differences are all manufactured.
Pitting us against them.
Black, white, gay, strait, english speaking and not, men, women, old, young....keep them concerned about their differences and you can rule them.

7. True, and we have natural differences but are more likely to agree
on things if we overlook those differences.

6. Maybe we just keep it simple. We simply, one by one, each of us pick a favorite blue
dog dem, and hammer them with calls, emails and letters.

We are so many more than they are, so we could collectively, have an impact.

Damn it, Health Care for all needs us to act.

:hi:

10. No we don't
If passion over an issue on DU actually translated to action on the ground, we'd have Iran-sized demonstrations daily for the repeal of DADT and DOMA.
