Kerry switching to Health Care Tomorrow..What Happened to Iraq?
Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 09:47 PM by Leilani
I thought the plan was to go after Bush HARD on Iraq & terrorism.

Just reported on CNN, some Repugs worried about Iraq, & know it is not going well.

Aaron Brown said all the people he knows are talking Iraq.

So what is going on? Was this a 1 day assault?

1. He'll probably have some health-care events
I mean, he can't campaign ONLY on Iraq/Terrorism/Natl' Security. A lot of swing voters, especially in places like Pennsylvania and Ohio want to hear more about jobs, the economy and health care, so it only makes sense that he'll talk about that somewhat. Keeping the focus on Iraq doesn't mean ignoring other things.

I'm sure that domestic issues will get some good exposure over the next few weeks, as well as they should. Kerry needs to do both.

2. They guy's going to two or three different places every day
He'll find time to talk about it all in a week, more than once. Is this normal campaigning? I never paid attention before. He seems like he's moving at the speed of light, trying to be everywhere.

3. people worry about Iraq, they worry about health care, social security
you've got to be able to talk about everything, his central focus will be on Iraq but he can't ignore other critical issues.

4. Bush is going to the UN tomorrow
He says he's going to attack Kerry there. It will be big news.

On Sunday, all the media could talk about was how things have gone to hell in Iraq and Bush is trying to hide the truth. Republicans were deserting Bush. Kerry was looking like a hero. Today, Kerry let up on that great attack but at least had something else.

I'm praying Kerry doesn't let Bush take this issue back. Health Care can wait.

10. Oh the UN
Really great place to play politics and campaign. *rolls eyes* Especially considering all of the people there probably want Kerry to win anyway. :)

5. Dems have learned nothing from Repugs...
Stay on message! Repeat! Repeat! Repeat!

Todays speech was the opening...he needs to keep POUNDING this to make it news.

He can still speak about other issues, but if he does not keep Iraq front & center, the message will be lost.

7. Maybe another hardhitting speech - this time on healthcare
If Kerry repeats the same speech tomorrow as he gave today, why would the media bother to cover it?

It has to be a multi pronged attack!

There are many issues to nail Bush on - he can't just vocalize on one message from now till Nov. 2nd.

8. El Chimpo will get a lukewarm reception at the UN since he will be viewed
through the lens of his colossal Iraq deception and failure. Also he rarely scores sound bite points in a hostile environment. Bush gains no ground.

Meanwhile, America will have more time to digest Kerry's foreign policy message.
