Barack Hoover Obama?
Edited on Tue Jun-23-09 12:45 AM by SpartanDem
The right says he's a socialist. The left says he's selling out the working man. Honeymoon? What honeymoon?

The cover story for the July issue of Harper's Magazine is "Barack Hoover Obama: The Best and the Brightest Blow it Again." (Not freely available online.) When one headline can conflate responsibility for both the Great Depression and the Vietnam War, you know the honeymoon is way over

But in these agitated times, the victory parade lasts a nanosecond before the savaging begins in earnest. Two examples, fresh from today's news.

In The Guardian, Kate Sheppard, a political reporter for Grist, complains that Obama isn't aggressively using his bully pulpit to push the need to do something about climate change

The hook for this complaint, astonishingly, is a new report highlighted by the Obama administration's top two science advisors warning us about what is "likely to happen in the near future if planet-warming emissions continue unhindered."

Great article for Andrew Leonard the last sentence says it all,"There are enough crazies on the right launching wildly unbalanced attacks on Obama every day. Does the left really need to jump in too?"

1. Obama can't win...ever. Every progressive has a list of priorities.
When Obama has his own, which may match theirs as far as what's on it, they think he's not doing enough when he's working on others he finds to be more important. Then you have the clowns saying he's not moving fast enough or hard enough. Then you have the clowns screaming Obama=Bush---while at the same time the same clowns or a new sect scream "Obama needs to lead and twist some arms to get things done." So then he's not enough like Bush in getting things done, and they want him to turn the nation into a dictatorship like Bush did.

Then you have the Republicans hating him on the other end. No matter what it is never enough and everyone will complain. I'm sick and tired of it and this site is numero uno for self-righteous progressive thought that claims holding "his feet to the fire" isn't bashing...at this point it's gone past the policy to the man.

Shoot..the best I've seen yet is one poster who actually is using Right Wing talking points on a democratic site to claim they are holding Obama's feet to the fire. It's dislike on a rampage speckled with stupidity.

3. It's amazing how people latch on RW talking points
The CBO report is latest that is loved my some in order to prove how bad Obama's health cares plans are and another one that stands out in my mind is when the DOJ dismissed that trumped case of voter intimidation case against the black panthers only for someone Michelle Malkin quote to back up their point.

2. I Had No Idea That Hoover Passed A Huge Stimulus and Tax Cut!
Someone needs to re-write the history books, because I thought that Hoover pretty much did everything that is the opposite of what Hoover did. Also, I thought that Hoover simply let banks go bust whereas Obama is getting heat for bailing them out. Perhaps the Harper writer is just historically illiterate.
