2 polls, 72% and 83% of Americans are FOR a public option. Why not let GOPers say they're against it
...and keep sayin it while passing it through reconciliation process then bust them in the mouth during mid terms?

I just remember the drawn out primaries between Obama and Hillary being able to help either one of them during the general election because of the number of folks that were signed up to vote...

Any dem in their RIGHT MINDS know not to come out against the public plan, it sounds like they're drawing more GOPers in...

Could we be seeing another rope-a-dope?

Thx in advance for your input...

4. I don't doubt that but what dem would publicly and openly vote against a bill with public
....option with 50% of reThugs wanting it too?

Blue dogs would be voted out of office on that alone IMHO...

3. There are Democrats in the Senate that need convincing.
"Any dem in their RIGHT MINDS know not to come out against the public plan, it sounds like they're drawing more GOPers in..."

And yet we have a half dozen spineless ConservaDems in the Senate doing just that. Trying to proffer up alternatives to the public option, like a co-op, triggers, etc. Then going for the cover of "we don't have 60 votes, so there's little use..."

5. We only need 51 votes to pass it through reconciliation(sp), we don't need them right now
...and how in the world are they gonna run in 2010(if their up for office) if they're voting against the public plan with 50% of reThugs wanting it?

Jus seams really self inflicting...

6. Even with those supposedly overwhelming poll numbers, those are national figures.
Edited on Thu Jun-25-09 05:06 PM by 4lbs
If the polling in their state or district shows softer support for it, they'll vote against a public option.

For example, Senator Nelson from Nebraska. A perfect example of the quintessential ConservaDem.

He's a Democrat in Conservative red state.

While the national numbers are 72% or more for the public option, it's likely not that high in Nebraska.

8. Most of the wavering "ConservaDems" are from fairly conservative states.
These states either went to McCain, or barely for Obama.

Note I said most. There are some ConservaDems from pretty Democratic states that for some reason (lobbyist $$$ ?) are wavering, like my own California's Dianne Feinstein.
