6. I'll wait for confirmation from another source
Rahm's not politically stupid enough to simply punt on this one without a fight.

On the Democratic side, national polls suggest a landslide for Ms. Clinton, while the markets suggest that the race is still very competitive, with a one-in-three chance that Obama or Edwards will ultimately win the nomination.

Repeated Rove's assessment of 2008 election without noting he was wrong in 2006

Democrats will nominate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) -- "a tough, tenacious, fatally flawed candidate" -- as their 2008 presidential nominee and that Republicans have "a very good chance" of winning the White House in 2008. But Gigot and several others who subsequently reported these claims did not mention Rove's flawed assessment before the 2006 midterm election, when he told the media that "the math" indicated that Republicans would "keep" their majorities in the U.S. House and Senate.

7. The WSJ is a rag, since Rupert Murdoch bought it.
It's been nothing but crap - I consider it to be as credible as the Moonie Times.

8. Don't forget the congressional bills that are being written have public options in them and Rahm is
...talking about a trigger for Public Option.

Now we know the "trigger" will NOT happen under a reThug president but o well, if they can use it as a hammer to drive down prices then

10. Obama made it firm today that he wants a public option. He is the main source to listen to.
WALKING BACK RAHM? A day after his chief of staff suggested the White House could live with a public option-free health care reform bill, President Obama released a statement (from Russia!) reaffirming his support for a government-run health care plan:
"I am pleased by the progress we're making on health care reform and still believe, as I've said before, that one of the best ways to bring down costs, provide more choices, and assure quality is a public option that will force the insurance companies to compete and keep them honest. I look forward to a final product that achieves these very important goals." http://www.politico.com/politico44/
I hate Politico but he did make the statement from Russia. I think he is serious about the public option. Any other WH officials who talk about a plan without a public option are not the President, he has the final decision and I hope he sticks to his guns on this. If not, he will blow it with health care reform.

13. No, I think its Rahm just trying to get something passed through Congress
which he is good at but we will lose what we really want. Obama needs to let him know that is not a possibility. Also, Obama will not be off the hook if there is no public option, I think we all know better.
