I hope people NEVER, EVER forget that.

I guess it's possible that Palin would have entered the national spotlight at some point had she not been McCain's running mate, but it's just as possible that she would have flamed out on her own in Alaska. The fake plumber, however, would never be anywhere near a television camera without McCain.

Alaska is hardly a political springboard, and I doubt there are even other Republicans as bat-shit crazy as McCain to put her on a ticket with them. He's really one of the only ones reckless and impulsive enough to select someone like that with no vetting whatsoever. And even a modest Google search would have sent up enough red flags to any other politician with two functioning brain cells.

He's as responsible for her as the fake plumber.
