McCain: Obama was wrong on stimulus either then or now

(CNN) — President Barack Obama can't have it both ways on his economic stimulus package, the man he defeated in last year's election said Sunday.

Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, told the NBC program "Meet the Press" that Obama either got it wrong when he predicted the benefits of his $787 billion economic stimulus package in February, or he's wrong now in saying the stimulus is working as intended.

"He's either not leveling now or he wasn't leveling at the time they passed the stimulus package," McCain said.

He cited predictions by Obama earlier this year that the spending plan would hold unemployment to 8.5 percent or less, noting the figure is now at 9.5 percent and likely to continue rising.

McCain also complained that the stimulus plan has failed to deliver the job creation Obama pledged.

Oooh, exciting: McCain and Bob Herbert in agreement.

Should place my bet on those two or Obama?

14. McCain who admitted that he knows nothing about economics or the economy is allowed to
speak about the economy and how Obama is wrong! Why? Why do these Sunday morning so-called punditry shows continue to grant this loser air time? :puke::puke:

2. McCain's actual quote was
"He's either not leveling now or he wasn't leveling then or...what was that we were talking about?"

5. I hate Gregory, but I thought he made McCain look like an idiot today.
Of course, that might have just been his trying to make McCain look good, and failing.

7. I get annoyed when others say this but
on this topic it is true---

IT'S ONLY BEEN 6 MONTHS.

I never expected the economy to turn in just 6 months. I expected at least 2 years, possibly more. On this issue, we need to give Obama's plans more time.

11. Ironic how McCain's plan called to do even less than Obama's
If he wants to say that the $787B stimulus package hasn't created enough jobs, I'm sure that he forgot that his idea was to just give $450B in tax cuts only.

How many jobs would that have created?

15. John "The fundamentals of the economy are strong" McCain???
He does not have any credibility regarding the economy. I would also like to thank him for creating a monster that we now have to deal with. Her name is Sarah Palin. Never forget that it was he who created that monster.
