I can't tell you how delighted I am to see Senator Franken in the Senate

Not just because I like him, his beliefs, what's looking like his governing style, (not to mention his humor and taste in music)but that Repub teeth are gnashing and heads exploding. They wanted to keep him out of the Senate so badly they disgraced themselves for months.

Senator Franken will be a clear, strong, unique voice and a excellent addition to the Senate.

Edit to add: I'm beyond delighted in our newbies Senator's Klobuchar and Whitehouse. Just outstanding minds.

1. And Franken has a career outside of the senate, so I think he'll stay honest to himself
and won't be fretting all the time about re-election and not giving up the gravy train.

3. I think his a pretty courageous guy
from what I've seen of his past, in entertainment as well as political commentary and his writing, he's got guts.

2. Senator Franken has turned out to be...

a perpetual thorn in their side. He had the audacity to skewer their leader (Rush) and they will never forgive him for that. Rush, O'Reilly and the entire Republican party can suck it. Bwahahahaha!

they can't even hide it. I won't even try to conceal the pleasure I get from that, especially knowing Senator John "I can understand people killing judges" Cornyn is there.

8. That's okay, because he will never forgive the crap they said
about Paul Wellstone's memorial service. That is the reason that he is now senator. He made a lot of money off of his book about their lies and now he is a senator. I wish we all would be so effectively motivated by our outrage.

A pivotal point in the election in MN was when they misrepresented Franken as being angry in one of their ads when in fact he was telling a funny story about Wellstone. When Minnesotans saw the whole clip it sealed Coleman's fate. They just weren't smart enough to stay away from anything to do with Wellstone. It was the jolt Franken needed to win.

They are scared to death of him because they know he's a smart man operating from genuine outrage over their smearing of the memory of a good man who was his friend. And they just can resist going back to that well. They just used that clip again to attack Franken last week. This continues to give him the inspiration he needs to defeat these fools. I think he is going to be a very effective senator because these guys just don't learn. He's on a mission.

6. Free Al's humor! Free Al's humor!
It must be killing the guy having to stay straight-faced and humorless this long. I know he feels he needs to (and to a fair degree DOES need to) dispel the belief that he's a lightweight, but I hope he feels comfortable enough to let loose soon. It must be driving him up the wall, especially standing smack in the middle of the most fertile ground for satire and silliness in the country.

My brother-in-law was at a fund-raiser for his ongoing campaign struggle in the Bay Area back in January, and when asked casually how he thought things would go, he said: "We're currently leading by 8, and I have every confidence that we can double that."

And gosh darn it, people like him...
