Letterman gets big ratings boost from Kerry appearance!!

"John Kerry's appearance on CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" made for great ratings.

The Democratic presidential challenger's guest spot gave the show its biggest autumn season opener since Letterman's first year on CBS in 1993, registering a 5.4 "metered-market" rating, or 5.4 percent of all households with TV sets in more than 50 major cities, Nielsen Media reported on Tuesday.

The Letterman show also led its arch-rival "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on NBC by a full ratings point."

Seems the public can't get enough of John Kerry! Guess that means the polls are full of shit. But we knew that already. }(

10. Saw it, loved it...an observation about Kerry...

When he read the Top Ten, he was consistently ahead of the on-screen printout...not so it looked bad or anything...but he was clearly pumped and jumped right into it.......I have formed the theory that Kerry is something of an adrenaline junky. It would explain the affection for demanding sports and, I think to some degree, his extraordinary service in Viet Nam, where he did exactly the right thing at the right time (with almost no time to think about it), dealt effectively with the enemy and saved lives while he was at it. I like that combination of thoughtful and serious with some juice in it as well. He was great on Letterman.

You're right, this would also explain Kerry's reputation for laying back in his campaigns until a near-palpable sense of pressure has built up, and then, boom -- he's "suddenly" in the hunt.
