You do not cover the president's news conference on TV, then you suffer the consequences!

4. He should carry that further. Provide fewer interviews to them when they are negative
or don't give his press conferences appropriate coverage.

7. Actually, the CPD guy got his questions x 2, it was after that....
He cut off the last question about Professor Gates. Not the CPD question about healthcare.

9. No. Obama said the CPD's name and some other man stood up
and asked questions in his place. After he answered those questions, and started to go to the last person (the woman) he was told the CPD reporter had not had his opportunity because the other guy butted in.
That's when Obama made some side comment, like "shame on you" which meant Obama was led to believe he
was letting the CPD reporter ask a question, when in fact, somebody else butted in.

12. You are wrong....
Obama called on the CPD reporter, he asked a long question, then a followup. After that was the weird exchange with the guy cutting off, and the Gates question. Like I said, Healthcare questions was CPD, weird exchange ended up being Gates. I watched it 3 times on DVR now.

17. Steven Thomma of McClatchy stood up as soon as Barack Obama said "Steve,"
Here ya go.

The Wrong Reporter Asks Obama A Question - Huffpost
The chance to ask a question during a prime-time presidential press conference is treasured real estate in the world of journalism. So when the President called on Steve Koff of the Cleveland Plain Dealer on Wednesday night, it was not an insignificant moment for either him or his paper.

And yet, as soon as the moment presented itself, it disappeared. Steven Thomma of McClatchy stood up as soon as Barack Obama said "Steve," not Koff. Within a matter of milliseconds the president's attention was on the wrong portion and journalist of the room.

The question, like those beforehand, centered on the health care debate. But half the audience was distracted. Koff and the group of reporters around him were asking what exactly happened.

When Obama, in the course of answering the question, mentioned that he'd been stopping in Cleveland the next day, bits of laughter erupted.

"I thought, this isn't right," Thomma recalled after the press conference was over. "I gave him a quizzical look and he gave me a quizzical look."

Luckily for him, the mistake was rectified. Koff stood up after Obama's answer was finished, explained politely that a mishap had just occurred, and asked his question - again about health care, though with a Cleveland-specific angle.

26. Thanks for the detes. Looks like an innocent mistake. Last night, I was thinking it might have been
some "interloper" and was chuckling about what choice words Rahm was going to have for that guy.

Looks like the poor guy just jumped the gun a bit and will probably get razzed by his colleagues instead! :)

Which is precisely what ol Minor Garret from 19th Century Fox would have asked!

25. I was almost waiting for him to ask that
but than the more I thought about it, it would have ruined his reputation outside of the right wing media. He is already walking a bit on thin ice after the snarky email he sent to mark sanford about nbc.

Sad but they are all tools: Chip Reid, Jake Tapper, Chuck Todd.
