There Are Only 21 Days After August That the Senate Is In Session
Edited on Thu Jul-23-09 12:53 PM by berni_mccoy
Check out this calendar: http://www.senate.gov/legislative/resources/pdf/2009_calendar.pdf

The Senate Has TWO MORE WEEKS to resolve their issues and VOTE ON THIS before the August Recess.

After that, there are only 21 more days in session. If this bill isn't passed BEFORE the recess, then there is little chance it will be passed before the end of this year.

Obama Needs to HOLD THESE PEOPLE FROM GOING HOME! NOW!

THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS WILL DIE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD HEALTHCARE WHILE SENATORS GO ON VACATION!

2. Pelosi runs the House
This is the Senate.

Reid just stuck a shiv between America's ribs.

3. Well the House version of the bill doesn't even start working until 2013
It still seems like a long, long way from the conference committee, and then a longer wait for whatever is passed to actually take effect.

5. If the bill isn't passed this year, it'll bet 2014. 18,000+ Americans die each year...
because they can't afford healthcare.

4. Call them back early.
Pelosi and Reid can do that.

6. Why can't we have some simple reforms on insurance abuses immediately, and extend Medicare to the
uninsured. I'm guessing the easiest public option is Medicare, but it's in financial straits. Could we fund it differently to extend the number of people and be deficit neutral over time; it's still administered by other than the gov't, right?

If not Medicare, what is the public option? I understand a pool of insurance choices, as health care is 1/6 of the GDP and not to be dismantled. But it can't keep getting record profits at our expense.

Are we offering Medicare in that pool, but with so many conditions, that it cover fewer, is less confrontational, has a chance of reforming from within with time, but also a deal breaker.

Medicare is so easily understood, but Congress wants to keep their industry. Just seems that letting them keep some just lets them keep all.

Color me really confused, agitated, angry, frustrated. I really wish Baucus could have cut bait a couple weeks ago, as I hate to have this all fall because of his timing.
