Mr President! This should not be water under the bridge
I absolutely love the idea that you're inviting Prof Gates and Officer Crowley to the
White House for beer, it shows grace, panache, or as another poster puts it mensch.

What I'm concerned about is what happens after that,

How do we move this discussion forward?

How do we keep this on the forefront of our discussion with other races?

How do we come to a mutual understanding that all men are created equals and thus should
be treated the same as the other man until proven otherwise?

How do we deal with bigotry within the police force?

Money is not the key to changing attitudes, instead it will create more problems. When you
have an officer who is suppose to understand the rules about racial profiling involved in this incident;
How do you ascertain that the right training are being done and its not a matter of title as in -
I have a black friend so I cannot be a racist.

These are concerns I'm sure majority share on DU.......

1. He is moving the discussion forward - actually in a productive manner
unlike the media or bloggers. After all, how has DU moved the discussion in a positive direction for society that suggests the president's idea is worse?

and ambitions to improve the relationships between all parties.

Net result - an improvement in personal/professional appearances and ambitions.

Funny how that works.

5. He sure is.
While the focus is on this, it's off the economy.

6. Productive intelligent discussion is starting to happen as we speak......
some folks are now learning that sometimes it takes coming together to solve difficult issues.

Perhaps it is not only a teachable moment for many of us, but also for our fucked media, that are largely to blame for fanning the flames of divisions nationwide....which is quite unfortunate.
