To the people who have been defending the lying, racist cop
We're in good company.

I actually just had a conversation with Sergeant Jim Crowley, the officer involved. And I have to tell you that as I said yesterday, my impression of him was that he was a outstanding police officer and a good man, and that was confirmed in the phone conversation -- and I told him that.

4. The 3 lies of Crowley have been exposed.
Ms. Whalen's statements make that apparent, so yes that does change the dynamic and tone of their reconciliation meeting, for everyone.

5. but Obama didn't know the circumstances would change
so it was cool for him to go ahead and say what he said then.

And now that the circumstances have changed, what should Obama do, take back what he said? Call him a bad man and a lousy cop?

Is it possible the circumstances could change again?

8. I am not saying he should
but I am saying that people who defended him here shouldn't be held to the psychic standard either. I didn't defend him so I have no real dog in this fight.

2. i'm not an obama fan -- but seriously -- you think obama
is not capable od subtlety regarding the common racism of white people?

that statement of obama's is really the statement of someone aware of subtlety and nuance and racism.

what a foolish foolish call out you have made.
think about what it says about you.

10. I don't see any implication in that sentence where Obama is
'defending' Crowley. I call it diplomacy.

11. "My impression of him" - that's all anyone has of anyone else - an "impression"
The President is not responsible for a correct or incorrect assessment of Crowley's character. People say things to make a good impression all the time. We all know those things aren't always true.

It just looks worse for Crowley that the President has made a gesture of goodwill toward him when he appears to have made false statements on a police report.

The shame is not the President's. It's up to Crowley whether he wants to follow through with this appearance based on what's coming to light.

14. After talking with Crowley, Obama called him "an outstanding police officer and a good man" with "
"a fine record on racial sensitivity."

15. He was fooled. Crowley is clearly none of those things. I don't hold Obama responsible for that.
