Bill Maher is right: we have to attack the birthers on all front
He reminded us of the Whitewater, a little land deal where the Clintons actually lost money, and yet it expanded and ended up impeaching the President for a blowjob. He reminded us of the Swift boats that Kerry wanted to be above it and how it ended up turning a war hero into a coward, while the Texas man behind it never left home.

The same will happen with the birthers who don't need any proof or any reason or logic to just spout these hateful comments. Perhaps not the White House, but we have enough Democrats: Garville, Emanuel, Terry McAuliffe, Bill Press and others who should be able to hit back at them at ever turn.

Yes, start with Lou Dobbs.

Was an excellent program, by the way.

18. Someone slaps it up in chunks on YOUTUBE, and you can grab it
within a brief window, when the HBO killjoys gripe and take it down.

For awhile there some nice soul was live streaming it on US stream, but I haven't seen that of late.

I did not realize that a majority of Palin's supporters want her to be... a housewife.

5. Excuse me but
McAwful, Carville, etc. were MIA in '04. The biggest problem IMO is the media who runs this bogus story over and over again just like they gave the lying swift boaters a microphone to keep up the LIES.

14. Perhaps they can come around now
I think that many now believe that Kerry made a mistake by not responding, by trying to stay above it, not to lower himself to their level, to talk about the economy.

Clearly the White House - Gibbs - is doing the same and this is probably they should.

But we need a guerrilla tactics, to hit them below the belt, from all directions that they least expect. They did something like that with Limpdick, painting him as the leader of the Republicans and it worked. At least, you don't see him attacking Republicans leaders who then come begging for forgiveness.

Certainly when Clinton was a candidate they were firing from all guns at every corner and then they abandoned this tactic once he was elected. Yes, I can see the White House staying above it, but the soldiers in the trenches need to attack and destroy.

19. You are not making any sense
first you say we need these Dems to step up and then you say Kerry didn't do enough, has Obama said anything? It's the media, stupid ( I don't mean you), but they are the culprits of these lies because they never let the story die. JMO.

22. Makes perfect sense
Yes, the Kerry and the party did not do enough and therefore we need to increase the fire.

Obama himself has to stay above it, but we have enough rabble-rousers a-la James Garville who should be able to turn the attacks back where they came from. Colbert was great earlier this week, having Orly Taitz there and making fun of her even though she never realized it. And Colbert may be too sophisticated for the idiots to catch it.

But we can point how stupid she, and Lou Dobbs and the rest of them are. The media loves fight so once we start responding, the media will start covering our attack. After all, how long can they talk about Michael Jackson?

9. I'm on it ...

I've lost two friends of 20+ years over this birther bullshit.

I asked a simple question:

Show me your own "long form" birth certificate.

It all went to hell from there.

10. Seriously? I'm not sure this issue is worth losing such relationships.
But, obviously, I don't know anymore than what you stated in your post.

13. Seriously ...

And, I can't answer clearly whether it is worth it, but I can say this. These were relationships I'd had since high school. We developed different political philosophies. I put up with a lot of bullshit from Mondale through Dukakis and into the Bush years. I watched one of these people go through some severe personal issues that resulted in a disability that wasn't a disability that nonetheless resulted in him being able to claim full disability ... and then listen to him bitch and moan about "welfare queens." I've said my piece as the need has arisen, but I never made it personal.

Both these individuals implied just recently I was a traitor for even voting for Obama and then pulled out the "Obama as Hitler" argument, both knowing full well my area of expertise is history and political philosophy. That was the final straw.

No one calls me a traitor or insults my intelligence like that and calls me a friend, not after all the crap I put up with as supposed "friendly" ribbing.

It is sad, but there it is. It's not the only thing, but it was the final thing.

15. Ten years ago I befriended a young man
who lived most of his adult life under Republican rule and he's got used to it. He was young when Clinton was in the White House and saw him through the Monica prism.

But now, that we took control of the White House and Congress he is lost. He cannot accept it, calling me elite, etc. So I just stopped responding to him. I really think that many of the Republicans are still in shock of not being in charge.

16. Well I can see losing a relationships over this....these people are
really over the edge...it is pure racism and I would not associate with these kind of people...if they are relatives I guess you would have to put up with it...but just barely..

17. Racism ...

That's exactly what it is.

I could agree to disagree on various issues of political ideology, but the election of Obama brought out something in them that simply had not come up before.

The bottom line is that they just can't tolerate thinking that a black man is their President. And I cannot be friends with someone who thinks that way.

20. Me too. If my "friends" reveal themselves to be intellectually dishonest racists
why on earth would I want to call them friends? I don't like people who think like that and certainly wouldn't want to hang out with them. The surprising thing to me is to learn how many people had these views but had them deeply hidden, until the black man in office freaked them out merely by getting elected.

And some of them now just can't even shut up about it. It is like a disease process that has hit overdrive with them and isn't slowing down. The words coming out of their mouths are offensive, stupid and show a determined unyielding focus on making up anything they can to defeat the black man and every democrat out there. Had I known they had these feelings, they wouldn't have been my friends in the first place. It is that important to me. Heck, I won't even do further business with locals who are letting their racsim boil over into conversations now. Since this is small town, I don't shove it in their faces (well, not much) because I leave the arguments and kumbaya "let's work them through it" talk for people with far more patience or are much younger and more enthusiastic about changing people than me.

I just arrange to make certain I never see them, speak to them or do business with them again, if possible. I don't want my world looking like the world that they see from their perspective. I want room in my life for people who think differently than a bunch of mean nasty racists and negativity hounds.
