"Memo: ‘Yell,’ ‘Stand Up And Shout Out,’ ‘Rattle Him’ "

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/07/31/recess-harassment-memo/

-snip-

- Artificially Inflate Your Numbers: “Spread out in the hall and try to be in the front half. The objective is to put the Rep on the defensive with your questions and follow-up. The Rep should be made to feel that a majority, and if not, a significant portion of at least the audience, opposes the socialist agenda of Washington.”

– Be Disruptive Early And Often: “You need to rock-the-boat early in the Rep’s presentation, Watch for an opportunity to yell out and challenge the Rep’s statements early.”

– Try To “Rattle Him,” Not Have An Intelligent Debate: “The goal is to rattle him, get him off his prepared script and agenda. If he says something outrageous, stand up and shout out and sit right back down. Look for these opportunities before he even takes questions.”

The memo above also resembles the talking points being distributed by FreedomWorks for pushing an anti-health reform assault all summer. Patients United, a front group maintained by Americans for Prosperity, is currently busing people all over the country for more protests against Democratic members. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the NRCC, has endorsed the strategy, telling the Politico the days of civil town halls are now “over.”

Meanwhile, AHIP, the trade group and lobbying juggernaut representing the health insurance industry is sending staffers to monitor town halls and other right-wing front groups are stepping up their ad campaign to smear reform efforts. The strategy for defeating reform — recently outlined by an influential lobbyist to the Hill newspaper as “delay” then “kill” — is becoming apparent. By delaying a vote until after the August recess, lobbyists are now seizing upon recess town halls as opportunities to ambush lawmakers and fool them into believing there is wide opposition to reform.

3. This 'memo' should be
xeroxed and distributed to every person coming into the townhall meetings. I doubt the local citizens would be too happy knowing their meetings were being disrupted by opposition hacks and plants.

6. How to counteract? Show up and accuse the disruptors of being PAID PLANTS
All you have to do is stand up and say "That guy is a PAID PLANT from the insurance lobby!!" Say it loud and repeat it often.

If the guy protests, get in his face and say BULLSHIT--"we" have your number, we've been warned that you would be here--you've been INFILTRATED, asshole!!! Check your buddies--some of them aren't your friends, fool!

Two can play that psyops shit.

7. Free speech zones
Having security haul out anyone who is disruptive, pre-screen the audience. You know, all of the things that they used to engineer civil town hall meetings for their dunce the last eight years.

11. Comments following the article are pretty good
get out and shout down the people that hope to control your health care costs...
your corporate giants and fat cat pols need you on the front lines; since you don't have jobs, what else do you have to do?
there might be a free lunch if your not arrested first.

12. How a smart Representative would do it.
Edited on Sun Aug-02-09 12:31 PM by SoCalDem
Immediately after being introduced, he/she would say:

"Everyone who is on medicare, please stand up". Now sit down. Everyone who is too young to be on medicare, please stand up. Now sit down.

Why did I ask you to do that?

The first group of people who stood up paid into medicare since 1965 (maybe not the correct year) and their payments went to pay for health-care for their parents & grandparents. the second group of people who stood are NOW paying out of their paychecks for the first group's medicare..

Is that socialism? or is it just a generational promise of good citizenship and fair-play?

Let me ask these questions to the 2nd group. Should deductions from your pay stop, so that health-care benefits for the first group could be terminated? Of course that means that YOU would get nothing in the way of health-care when YOU turn 65 either. How many have a million dollars saved up for health care in their old age?"

"NOW.. for the people who have received the RNC memo, and who are here to disrupt, please step up to the stage.. all together now.. You have 15 minutes to recite your prepared talking points, and then we'll proceed with the town hall meeting."

(assuming that no one steps forward)

Since no one here admits to receiving the disruption orders, or perhaps they were texting or twittering just now, anyone who stands up and shouts anything , will be removed."

then they should start the meeting.

13. I don't understand why
we don't have counter groups scheduled to show up at each and every one of these town halls. Is there a reason we just stand back and allow it to happen when, in fact, we have this information and know they will be there? How hard could it be to hire people to show up?

20. "how do we counteract this?" Go to the townhalls and shout them down by ...
... asking if they have healthcare. Or a job. Or a home. etc, etc, etc ...

If you get kicked out, make sure one of them goes with you.

That will just shut them up because they are usually chicken. The rest are usually bat shit crazy and after they spew their talking points the others will not want to be associated with them.

25. Identify the bus. Find the people on it. Sabotage it.
Like put sugar in the gas tank. Stand around when the bus fails and see who they call to get a substitute bus. Fix that bus too.

Oh, and offer to be helpful to the shills on the bus. Videotape and audio record them all the way. Let THEM confess that they're hired goons. Then post it on the Internet.

37. Brownies wouldn't work. They hate EVERYTHING brown.
Except what they throw at working people.

I would rather see them stuck at a truck stop to get their bus repaired (at RNC cost, of course) and to deal with the "honest white working people" they are trying to defend from the "mud people." It might give them pause to see them.

28. Attendees should be required to show that they live in the
district. And if given the chance to speak, they should be required to stay for the entire meeting. Setting up ground rules might help dissuade some of the disruptors from showing up.

And maybe some buses could be blocked or misdirected on attending. Perhaps tell them that the meeting has been postponed for two hours or two days, whatever works to cause them to miss the meeting.

Okay. Not appropriate. Deserved, but not appropriate.

I think we need to have Obama in a press conference passing out copies of the memo and reading it.

Ask anyone who intends to act in this way to please identify themselves because the police (point to police) need to know how many handcuffs will be needed.

Anybody who resists maybe tazered.

All civil comments and questions will be handled in an orderly way.

And the fine books and take care of these assholes. Yelling out and causing disruptions like this should get you fined and if it continues tased. I mean they weren't afraid to shoot liberal students in college. I'm only talking about town hall meetings, if they want to chant let them go outside and chant away.
